We really enjoyed our visit to the sunflower field, in spite of the limitations, and it made a great day-long outing. I can't leave it just at that though, so here are a few of the other things I noticed there and on the way home.
The sunflowers speak for themselves. And I realized that this was the first time I had unloaded, ridden and reloaded on a harvested wheat field, better even than a grassy back yard, really smooth.
As we left, driving south for a bit before turning west, you could see the shadow of the Niagara Escarpment nearly 35 km. away, across the flat glacial lakebed.
I even caught an instantaneous lucky windshield shot of the Hangar restaurant at the surprisingly big Edenvale airport. Off in the middle of the countryside, I've always wondered how they made a go of it financially. The backbone are the local nearby private flying clubs.
North of /Stayner we stopped at Lucia's (pronounced Lou-chee-a's) Country Market. This turned out to be a tiny traditional Italian grocery store, full of the cheeses and meats you could buy in any of the tiny Italian groceries in Italy.. Mrs. F.G. came away with quite a haul!
And in Collingwood these colourful Zinnias flourished in the municipal planters downtown. Beautiful!
Great selfie. Love these photos, FG. Lucia’s sound like my kind of store.
ReplyDeleteThis is the year for zinnia's isn't it? Nice photo Stew. You are looking well and happy.
ReplyDeleteNice photo of you with the sunflowers. Thanks for sharing your trip. Best wishes from the Sunflower State (Kansas, USA).
ReplyDeleteThis entire post made my face wreathed in smiles, and then the wonderful Selfie at the end made it absolutely perfect. Yay for you! :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely Zinnias and Sunflowers. You're looking very cheery!!
ReplyDeleteThose planters in Collingwood are great, presumably they water them frequently.
ReplyDeleteNow if you were to draw a little 'Happy Face' on that yellow ball atop your chairs aerial there would be two happy faces coming down the road. And maybe put a little white hat on him too:))
ReplyDeleteall of the sunflower fields in this area are closed, such a shame. the sunflowers were all planted earlier in the year, they are all blooming but the fields are not allowed to open. that's a nice picture of you!!!
ReplyDeleteDid you shave your beard after this picture? We thought you looked different today.
ReplyDeleteWell done! I love the challenge of drive-by shootings! Nice selfie, too!
