Blogger Glitch?

Anyone else having this problem where multiple copies of your blog post appear?

I typically write the post, publish it and then read through the published version to do final editing.  Often sharp-eyed Mrs. F.G. Spots a mistake I don't, so I need to go back and fix that.  Then I post the edited version.  But Blogger sometimes leaves both versions to appear.  This time it was even three versions.

The trouble is that if someone comments just in those few minutes when my first version is published, those comments don't transfer when I publish the edited version.  So if I then delete the extra copies, I lose some of your comments.  Never used to happen this way.

Guess I'll just have to try and write it perfectly before hitting the publish button.

  1. It's never happened to me, and I have to change my posts quite often. I use the little pencil at the bottom to edit, and then when I hit "update" there is only one copy. I suspect Blogger is getting cranky. :-)

  2. It's never happened to me FG. I use pretty much the same process, usually write my Monday blog post on Sunday night (tired), set it to auto publish at 5:00 am Monday and then check it in the morning (refreshed) and fix the spelling, grammar, etc. No multiple posts have turned up ... so far :-/

  3. I do the edit and update as well and have never had multiple posts, I wonder why you do?

  4. I think I've had it with one or two other blogs that have on occasion double posted. I saw that the other day with yours and wondered what it was about. Unfortunately transferring comments isn't doable.

  5. Perhaps there is something in the settings that allows multiple edits to publish? I have not had this issue, although I have seen a draft version list in my posts list which I do delete.

  7. Hi Furry...
I always do a "preview" first...then go back and correct any mistakes...then hit "publish"...I notice sometimes the posts of others will show up twice on my reading list...Hmmmm?
enjoy the long weekend...wall to wall sunshine...
    Cheers!

  8. I have never experienced this problem and I can assure that I go back in and correct glitches I missed when I created the post. Yours is the only blog where I have this issue so I suspect it is somehow germaine to something you are doing. In my opinion, it would be better to delete the extra posts even if it entails losing some comments. After all, most people will only read one version of what is patently the same post so we are not going to see the other comments anyway.

  9. This has never happened to me (as far as I know). But what I've been experiencing lately is when I publish a post it doesn't show up on my feed until the next day. Very annoying!

  10. It has been happening - but fortunately before I make it public - if I didn't catch those extras I'd have a mess. Probably will stop just the way it started.

  11. Haven't had that problem. I always look at the preview first before I publish.

  12. No. Not to me (yet). I always preview loads of times but sometimes I swear the auto correct function gets the better of me and "corrects" what I was trying to say which is infuriating…. and usually NOT what I meant.
But I do suffer from the post publishing itself before I wanted it to. Happens now and then and I can't un-publish it without copying the text, deleting the post, starting a whole new post, pasting the copied text, sticking in the photo/scans, redoing the labels…….
However, can't complain too much as without blogger I would not have written more than 600 posts about crisps!
