More Snow!

The snow squalls arrived last night, and dropped another 8-10" of white powder everywhere.  We awoke to an even whiter world, and more work to do!  Try to pretend that it's a crisp snappy -15°C or so as you look at these pictures!

Out the side yard just as the sun came up, a main patch of our garden buried under snow.

And the back deck that I spent quite a while clearing yesterday; now it needs to be cleared again.

The birch tree out front adds something to the view.  I tried putting off the work, but had to get out and snowblow the driveway again.

As I walked the loop with the dog there were lots more opportunities to take pictures of the snow.

Another of those Hawthorns that holds the snow so well.

Had to go into town for a few things, so I drove down a side road where I know this fence is.

I was hoping for a brief bit of sun and some interesting shadows, but no luck.  It's still an intesting pattern of old fences.

And later I walked the dog through the woods.  Part of a huge old maple has fallen, and it's branches had held yesterday's snow.

While the young maples on the edge of the field are all plastered on one side with fresh snow.

****

With all this snow, I got out on snowshoes with the dog again, breaking our own trail through the freshly fallen snow in the woods.   I'm giving myself double credit for the half-hour of breaking trail in fresh snow, adding up to an hour and 45 minutes today.  I'm catching up on yesterday's miss.  And hoping for my first time out on skiis tomorrow - finally!

  3. It's so hard to pretend we have anything other than a really hot sunny day here. 28 C on the back lawn, and that is with a slight breeze. Wrap up well on those walks. Love the fence photos.

  9. You are full of energy. Shoveling snow is the most tiring but also slogging through its drifts can be heart pounding. Lovely stuff. I wonder if we will see any at all this year.

  14. Snowshoes make it harder and I count time and a half for them, and breaking trail? Double is quite appropriate. You are back in the groove now. Love the pretty snow pictures, too. :-)

  21. I looked up your bay that you were visiting and I have a better understanding of where you live. Your photos show a very picturesque place. It reminds me of the state of Maine where my son lives with bits and pieces of history hanging around in the landscape.
