Perhaps my favourite view of a farm near here, I've posted similar photos to this one in different seasons before.
An enormous barn right on the edge of Markdale. I actually shot this photo from the back of the gas station. It seems huge for this area, but doesn't seem to be actively used anymore.
Another favourite farm that I drive by regularly, taken from behind in the light of the setting sun.
Our neighbour's barn, which has been restored, but is only used for storage I believe. You can see by the old foundation extending to the right that the barn was once larger.
I've been watching this one slowly collapse for several years. Those timbers are remarkably strong, 'cause they're taking a long time to fall down! You can tell from the bluish shade of the last two photos that they were taken through the windshield - lazy me!

Thanks for sharing your wintery collection of barns this week. Something that has been lacking in these parts. Your last image is quite typical of many fallen barn that I see regularly. I hope that you continue to find and record more wonderful barns.
ReplyDeleteLots the pictures of the old barns, always make me wonder about their history.
ReplyDeleteThat last one is truly moody.
ReplyDeleteGreat series, I like the 3rd farm image with the red barn. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos ! Oh the last photo what a shame , I always feel soo bad for old decaying barns . Barn board is worth a lot of money in the wood working field Papa here is always collecting and looking out for it as it makes for good projects . Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteI wonder how much longer that last one can stand.
ReplyDeleteThat last one is really in sad shape. I know of crafting people who would love to get their hands on those old worn boards.
ReplyDeleteBarns in the snow - so pretty!!
