They ended up sitting on the barn roof.
But when we first spotted them, put on the brakes and backed up, they were sitting on part of the old stone foundation.
Didn't seem ready to disappear too quickly.
They're very common around here; we see them soaring in the sky all the time.
We left all three of them sitting on the old barn roof.

ReplyDeleteHave a great week-end!
Wonderful shots!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find! So lucky they held still for you. That old barn is pretty awesome too.
ReplyDeleteThey're fascinating critters, absolutely essential in the ecosystem. I think they look quite distinctive.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of the turkey vultures and the wonderful old barn.
ReplyDeleteGreat series on the Turkey Vultures, they do not seem to mind people. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeletemakes me wonder if there was food around
ReplyDeletewonderful to see them
and in this setting
I love the barn as well as the Vulture shots. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! We often see them soaring along the railway line that runs south of Davenport Rd - they are beautiful in the air.
ReplyDeleteNice pics! I have one in my post, but there were 7 of them up on the power poles. All took off before I got very close.

We have those all the way down here in Iowa. You can be driving along and three or four are sitting on a fence row as if they are discussing their next move. You got some good shots of them. We don't see ours on a regular basis but they are large so we know them when we see them.
ReplyDeleteI like the barn as much as the birds, a perfect spot to sit and spy on all below.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is, they are NOT pretty birds. Vultures I guess aren't supposed to elicit thoughts of bluebirds. :-)
ReplyDeleteTurkey vultures may be ugly but are beautiful and graceful when soaring around the sky.
ReplyDeleteLike the barn picture.
perfect shot of them on the old barn! We see them once or twice a summer...they must pass through:)
ReplyDeleteThe barn is just as fun to look at as the vultures. I don't know why everyone thinks turkey vultures are ugly, they are incredible birds, and so fun to watch.
