A Good Rain

We had a wonderful rain last night that was badly needed.  It was the long slow sort of rain that really soaked into the ground, mostly overnight, and covering much of southern Ontario.  Both farmers and gardeners will be breathing a sigh of relief as it's been very dry.  All the crops will have been planted by now, so with the hot weather coming all those plants will get a really good burst of growth.  Thanks to Mrs. F.G. for the first four of these images.

Water droplets from the overnight rain showed up very nicely on the Hosta leaves, showing off the interesting texture of the leaves too.

The water droplets liked the emerging leaves of the Day Lilies too.

I tried to make my own contribution looking out the window though I'm forced to admit that Mrs. F.G. is now better photographer than am I.

Couldn't resist adding this photo of the Redbud outside the window.  Getting sunny and warm now, so I may get outside myself this afternoon.

  2. Good close ups. I don't know when the rain started here in the night, but I woke up to it and it rained through the morning.

  5. Beautiful pictures of raindrops on those leaves. We also need a good rain by now. Our local soil is very sandy and water drains away so quickly that although it seems we get a lot of rain we still do a lot of watering. So far we're just using water from the many rain barrels around the house and shed but I can see that I'll be unrolling the hose unless we get some rain.
