Wrinkles!

The changing colour of the leaves on trees are really what fall is all about, but from my viewpoint at the living room window there are other changing leaves right in front of my eyes - the hostas!  Although in summer they're obscured by intervening green, at the moment they are really obvious, and hosta leaves change colour just at the same time as the tree leaves.

There are about 10 hostas in the flowerbed in front of the window, but just now two of the big ones dominate the picture.

And as I photographed them I realized how wrinkled they are.  The wrinkles really show up more with the changing colour of the leaves.

Just to add to your viewing pleasure, here are a couple of shots of the larger beds of hostas at our former home.
Just another element of the changing seasons here.

  1. i don't have any hostas in my gardens, i'm not really sure why as they are very beautiful!! yours are gorgeous, and yes a little wrinkly this time of year, but i like the color!!

  2. How do you keep the slugs from eating the hosta leaves? I looked at mine the other day and the leaves are lacy!!! I, too, had so many huge hosta plants at our other home, one was that pale turquoise colour and a magnificent plant, I had to leave it there and hope the new owners enjoy it too.Love the wrinkles. Mrs F G, a friend of mine does print magic, where you print the photo onto fabric then thread paint it. I will see if I can find her one of a huge hosta leaf and send it on. Raining here, a cold spell after some warmer days, spring is fickle.

  3. I love your view of the hostas, up close and personal. Wrinkles on hostas! I like that a lot! We need to be able to look at the wrinkles on our faces (speaking for myself) and enjoy them more too. A sign of a good life. :)

  4. Your hostas are in the same state of affairs our hostas are at as well. When I'm out in the yard tomorrow I'm going to have a close look for those hosta wrinkles.

  10. They are pretty even when fading into gold like that. I know wrinkles personally. Wish mine were pretty like these. :-)
