There were Niagara peaches, to my mind the best fruit of the year.
And the first apples of the season were available. That really marks the beginning of fall here, and there will be a dozen varieties ripening and coming into the markets over the next three months. Thornbury and Meaford are the biggest apple producing area in Ontario, so we have lots of choice!
There were beautiful bundles of bright sunflowers for sale.
We did stop down at the harbour briefly, at least to drive around. It's a popular place for fishermen. This view looks east across the mouth of the Beaver River toward the 'Blue Mountain'.
And this looks back west toward Meaford. A beautiful day!
I sure missed having my own tomatoes the past couple of years...and I am not exaggerating when I say I cold eat a half peck of oranges...no trouble at all! Your photos made me so hungry!
ReplyDeleteMore lovely photos. I always enjoy your photos even if I don't stop to say so.
ReplyDeleteLove the sunflowers, my favourite and the Blue Mountain is definitely blue! :)
ReplyDeleteReally have to love the local markets, nothing quite like fresh local produce. More wonderful views of the lake.
ReplyDeleteHello, I would like some of the tomatoes, peaches, apples and the sunflowers please! LOL, they all look delicious. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteWhat fine looking produce. I love peaches and I guess it's time for me to enjoy the local varieties around here. It might be just a bit too early, though. It certainly was a beautiful day. Thank you for sharing it. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Furry!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the Peaches...we buy them when we drive thru Grimsby on the way to the cottage.
My Neice lives in Clarksburg...she recently got married right on the shores of the Beaver River that runs thru her property there!
Such a beautiful spot...
Enjoy your week...
Cheers!
Linda :o)

ReplyDeleteI have been craving good tomatoes and these do look good!
ReplyDeleteI ate an apple off my tree the other day and was surprised that it was ready. I guess a hot summer speeds things up. Enjoy those goodies and your beautiful area.
Such a beautiful place to live, FG.
ReplyDeleteApples and peaches sound good right about now!
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting for the field tomatoes to come in here! I have basil & feta cheese ready to go on top of some with a bit of balsamic vinegar & olive oil. I look forward to it all year!
