Fall Weather

It feels well and truly like fall now, with alternating sun and cloud, and frequent showers.  To say nothing of cooler temperatures; sometimes it's downright chilly out there!  Sweaters, sweatshirts and vests have been dragged out and I'm managing to still stay comfortable.

Meanwhile the gulls are getting ever closer to our yard as they hunt their way across the golf course in the early morning.  We're wondering what comes next!

And on Thursday we had a brief thunderous hail storm.  Don't see that very often here.

Finally this Crocosmia may well be the last of the newly bloomed flowers this year.  At least it's a brilliant red exclamation mark to the end of the garden season - though there's lots of garden work still to do.

  1. Probably that same system that gave you hail blew through here. Terrific shots!

  2. Yes we can certainly feel the cooler Autumn air now and this morning I snapped our furnace on for a bit. I have trotted out my warm T-shirts along with my long sleeve shirts. Been having the Jeeps heater briefly on most mornings too. Hope that hail you got is not a prelude to early winter.

  3. Yes, it's much cooler today, windy too. I guess Stevens Pass had its first snowfall of the season, and Artist Point is closed as well. :-(

  4. It has been getting cooler here and then this morning it was 64 degrees again and in the 70's later in the day.
    Great shots.

  5. It's getting warmer here but Winter still thinks it can throw out some last minute storms.

  6. It is definitely fall. As long as you can bundle up, it's not so bad. That is one beautiful red flower!!
The hail missed me but Bill had it in Durham.

  7. Parts of the Ottawa Valley got the hail. We were spared but lots of rain.

  8. Even down here closer to the Equator the seasons are changing and the days are getting cooler.

  9. Lovely pots on the deck, and a lot of hail, our last hail shower didn't last on the lawn for long. And now daylight saving has begun ( where is it saved to!???) the mornings will be darker, and we have dinner in the daylight. Gulls, are they coming in closer if there is a storm out at sea?.

  10. Hello, The red flowers are beautiful. We always see the gulls on parking lots, they come inland often.
We could use some rain here, not the hail. Enjoy your Sunday, wishing you a happy new week!

  11. Yes it is fall, still a few nice warm days yet though. Saw some pictures of that hail the other day glad it was short lived.

  12. Wonderful account of the season change. Glad the hail stones were small. That could have stormed some real damage.
