Late Summer Flowers

After the Day Lilies are finished, we're starting to think fall is coming, and the bright flowers in the garden are nearly finished.  But that's not entirely true.  There are several great flowers that bloom now that continue to add colour well into September.

One of my favourites, perhaps because my grandparents had one growing against their old barn, is the Morning Glory.  These bright pink ones bloom on our front porch, glowing in the morning sun.

And these gentle pink ones are on the deck.  It's hard for me to believe that plants can put such energy into beautiful blooms that normally fade by lunch time!  They come by their name honestly.

Looking quite similar, but with a completely opposite bloom time, are these 4 O'Clocks,  They bloom in late afternoon, and also come in varied shades.

 We also have a Clematis that is a late bloomer.  I can see it against the shed outside my window.

We have a Buddleia or Butterfly Bush in a stunning deep pink colour and the Monarch loves it!

A beautiful blue Agapanthus currently visiting us.  We need to get one of these.

My favourite overall is the Crocosmia.  Ours are the bright red ones, and as you know, I just like the bright colours!
