I Think We're Getting Some Rain!

It's been dry here for weeks, even though it has rained heavily further south in Ontario.  Today was brutally hot, under the 'heat dome' they've been forecasting.  There have been heat warnings for 2 or 3 days.  But out for a ride this afternoon it had cooled off considerably in spite of the forecast.  So I checked the radar.  This is what I found.

Two maps from the Weather Network, both showing the rain (green), heavy rain (yellow), and the second highlighting the thunderstorms (red).  Both storms are moving straight east and we are located on the south shore of Georgian Bay, directly east of the red patches on the second map.

Yes, I think we're getting rain.  We'll just stay inside and watch the storm.

  1. Looks like you'll be getting hit harder then the lite rain we'll be getting.

  2. I saw the heat wave colours earlier today and this looks like heavy wet stuff. Watch the raindrops from a safe place indoors.

  3. I watch the weather for my friends at https://www.yr.no/place and wherever I look, that place is saved for me. I see you will be 27C today, and have 4.6mm of rain tomorrow. But that colour indicates a lot more moving Eastwards.

  4. I commented too soon. Looks like the storm has shifted further in our direction and we'll be getting hit just as bad as you will.

  6. The rain is welcome. We got the storm yesterday, and it lasted for a whole 10 minutes before disappearing. Today, we got some before 6 and it looks like that is it. My garden is still pretty dry. I hope you got what you needed. :)

  7. Down here in Pennsylvania we've gotten more than our share of rain for several months, 2 1/2 inches on Thursday. But the garden plants certainly like it.

  8. It was brutally hot here today in Virginia. A storm was predicted this evening but it went right over us.

  9. That all looks rather threatening! There were storms queueing up in the wings for us yesterday but most of them fizzled out before they got here. Temperatures of 33 degrees forecast for next week.

  10. That same storm swept over us with high winds and heavy rains for about 5 minutes. A lot of water came down along with branches and a few trees. It's a handy thing we have those live radar weather map sites these days.

  11. We are basking in full sun and high temperatures, for us at least. 28°C is pretty darn hot for us wilted Pacific Northwesterners. :-)

  13. Our maps have been mostly orange and yellow this summer ... like every day. My lawn is beginning to rot. So much for that dry spring.

  14. We've had our share of rain, but I do know the river levels are declining from where they were during the spring.
