More of Mrs. F.G.'s Fibre Art

Here are a few more of Mrs. F.G.'s beautiful art pieces, mostly small interesting quilts, but a couple of other neat things.  Perhaps it will take your mind off the snow!

This is a paper-pieced hexagon, created mostly with fabrics Mrs. F.G. dyed herself.  The kitchen looks like a chemistry lab when she does that.  I love the long thin triangular shapes on this, only about a foot across, so each triangle is pretty small.

This was created based on a picture printed on fabric, and then painted with watercolour paint pencils, where the colour is set by heat.  Practicing a new technique.

I love the detailed quilting outlining the petals and leaves on this, the coloured thread matching the fabrics.  About 16 x 20".

This is a little fibre art quilt with multiple layers of fabric, made more interesting by cutting and slashing some of the fabric to create the rough edges and curves.  A few very small quilted squares and beading added on top.

And finally a 3-dimensional snowflake, just an extra little afternoon project.

A lake effect streamer parked itself overhead this morning and moved back and forth a bit, transforming our 1 cm. forecast into about 15 cm.  We were driving home and literally drove into the squall like driving into a wall of snow.  For the next two miles you could hardly see, the thickest snowfall I can remember.  Then we popped out the other side into sunshine!  At least it was light and fluffy so it wasn't hard to blow the drive and deck later on.  A good reminder of why the weather channel warns you not to drive in snow squalls!

  4. Mrs F.G. I have waited a long time for Mr F.G. to show us your art work, and the wait was well worth every day or week. That hexagon, I know the detail there, and can realise how many hours went into it. Not only making but the dying beforehand, Truly magnificent. And the snowflake, Wow!!!

  7. Wow, she is extremely talented. Dying her own fabrics takes an excellent eye for texture of fabric and color to say nothing but chemistry! Makes me want to take this up and try my hand, except I know it also takes TONS of time.
