Sunset Over Lake Eugenia

I keep returning to Lake Eugenia, in case a flock of Tundra Swans drops in to visit.  I drove there in the evening Tuesday, and captured the sun shining across the lake on the stumps, and then disappearing over the trees to the west.

You can see that the lake is still partly ice, some mud flats, and still lots of exposed stumps.  The water hasn't started to rise to its summer levels which cover all this yet.

But the stumps in the golden evening sun and their reflections (which I hardly noticed until right now), made a nice picture.

After a few minutes of checking out the hundreds of Canada Geese I turned around and headed home, to catch the sunset over the lake.

Lots of birds floating around in places, but far too many of them are those pesky Canada Geese.

Driving back home I caught the sun again as it disappeared over the valley, silhouetting this tree against the evening sky.

  2. Some beautiful sunset shots. By the number of Canada Geese that I saw yesterday I'm surprised there are any left in Canada!

  5. A flock of Tundra Swans is a wonderful sight. I am amused and a tad disconcerted perhaps by your comment about the Canada Geese. As humans, we have made everything perfect for them to multiply and succeed.nThen we complain about them being "far too many." It's amazing how we can scapegoat wildlife which succeeds. I am quite convinced that were the Passenger Pigeon here today, a bird that occurred in the BILLIONS it would be declared a nuisance, hyper-abundant and requiring a cull. The only species that is hyper-abundant is Homo sapiens and we are really in need of a cull. As for the Canada Geese, why don't you just enjoy them along with everything else and not resent their success?
