Weather Report!

I interrupt this series of posts on Wodehouse Karst (lots to come yet), with a weather report.  Winter has briefly returned; the winter coat is back out of the closet.  The temperature is back down below zero, and yesterday we had just about every variety of cold precipitation possible - hail, snow pellets, and wet snow.  Today we're back to white.

You'll recognize our back yard, what I usually refer to as the meadow, since we don't mow much of it.

In the garden the peonies, already well up out of the ground, don't seem bothered.

The smaller daffodils were blooming brightly 3 days ago.

Now they're probably shivering, but I expect they'll be ok.

The Fritillaria was coming up fast.

I'm not sure how well it will recover from the below freezing temperatures.

But the garlic probably just enjoys it.

And all this is normal for late April; it'll be back to sunny and warm by the weekend.

  1. Oh that's just sad looking. Thankfully it's going to be gone very quickly. Strange weather.

  5. Pity about the bulbs, but that garlic, all like soldiers in rows. Hope it is the last for your season and spring stays.

  8. It doesn't last long this time of year. Here it is below freezing, but no snow yet. Of course, that can easily change.

  11. Wow - below zero - now that is cold - at least to us from the Pacific Northwest.

  12. I feel for those daffodils, but I also suspect they'll be okay. Your garlic looks happy anyway. :-)
