With temperatures staying up at 8°C even overnight, the snow has been vanishing fast. Not much visible melting, except for a trickle of water down the edge of the road, but the snow is obviously being just sucked up into the atmosphere! And it's been raining for 12 hours now, helping to further wash away the dirt and grit I hope.
Yesterday morning, Monday, the view was like this, about half of our own yard green, but the golf course still all white. It had vanished overnight fast.
This morning, if you can see it through the raindrops on the window, our yard is almost bare, and there are large patches of green on the golf course. It's supposed to be colder by tonight, but warm again by Thursday. I've rarely seen the snow dissipate this fast, though I'm glad to see it go. Now, if they'll only get those street sweepers out.
Just for comparison, this is the view 10 days ago, just after the big storm. glad to see this sort of weather over and done with for another year (I hope)!
That's quite a transformation. Lets hope you'll soon be able to drive outside again without bringing too much "outside" inside on the wheels.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile those of us just east of Algonquin Park are still plodding through FEET of snow. Longing to see some green around here too.
ReplyDeleteIt's starting to happen here, though we've had more of a snowpack.
ReplyDeleteThat rain made short work of all that snow. That, and the mild temperature. :-)
ReplyDeleteKey part of your post is two words. I hope. Spring in Canada can get crazy.
ReplyDeleteWe've had such up and down temperatures here as well.
ReplyDeleteYes I'm hoping this is the end of the snow this year as well but we do know how unpredictable March can be and it's not unusual for us to get snow in early April either.
ReplyDeleteForecasts are calling for more scattered flurries but otherwise you'll be looking happily at Spring.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy the nicer weather.
It's about time.
Such an exciting time of year! Even if we get a huge snowfall now, we know it will disappear as quickly as it came. I'm sure it must be especially exciting for you, since I imagine it makes it much easier for you to get out into nature. Happy Springtime to you!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo!! We'll be in London Apr. 4 - 8th at least so sure like to see the disappearing act! :)
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you are melting. It has been a long hard winter. You have grass in the yard showing.
