We got home again to our much more luxurious and peaceful home base here in Meaford today, after 5 days in that big London Health Sciences Spa. The food here, homemade tomato soup, is fabulous, maybe I finally feel like eating. I had asked a friend to clear our drive, but when he came over he found a neighbour had already done it! Bodes well for the new neighbourhood.
Somehow we were able to thread our way through heavy snowfalls both southeast of us, around Lake Ontario, and northwest of us, along Lake Huron, to find roads that were clear and mostly bare all the way home. A good thing, since we've had about 18" of snow up here over the week.
Let me tell you, that general anaesthetic does strange things to your brain for several days after the actual surgery. I could not even describe to you where I was in my constant fast-cycling dreams, but I know I didn't get much sleep all week because of them. To say nothing of swelling up to look like someone else! No, that's an insult to someone else; and I'm told I look more like myself now.
Anyway, I did collect some Meaford photos before this all happened, so maybe I can get my brain focussed enough to write some blogs - hope so. It's going to be a very quiet Christmas here, but we're very glad to be home.
Good news!
ReplyDeleteYay, FG. Glad you’re back home and on the mend!
ReplyDeleteBeing released from a place of confinement (sometimes called a hospital) is always a pleasure. I understand your reaction to general anesthesia -- my memory has never returned to its former self (21 years after a double coronary artery bypass). Enjoy your home-cooked meals and your own bed.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to have you back.
There's no place like home Toto. Think I'm gonna write Santa a letter and ask for some of that there general anaesthetic stuff for Christmas. Sounds like quite a trip you had there without ever having to leave your head or your bed.
ReplyDeleteTake it easy now chum!
ReplyDeleteFriends and new neighbours, wonderful help already there, and home again, the very best place for good food, great company, and peaceful recovery. Let Mrs F.G. fuss all she would want to, ( in between meals, laundry, a little quilting, and making sure you are doing as you should) and all others who can pitch in at other times as well. Rest up, and have a 100% recovery to good health.
ReplyDeletei'm glad you're home too - how nice that someone cleared your driveway!!!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as though you've moved into a friendly neighbourhood. It'll be good to be home for Christmas even if you need to have a quiet time.
ReplyDeleteHello, it always feels better to be home. I hope you recover quickly and all is well. Thank God for nice neighbors. Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt's true that general anaesthetic does very weird things to the brain. I've experienced the same thing. I go under the knife on Tuesday, but it's just the second cataract surgery. Hope all went well for you and will be the same for me. So glad to hear you're home safe and sound. :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are back home and getting back to normal. I pray for a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteHow nice that your neighbors cleared your driveway for you. : )
Glad that are home sweet home again and feeling all better, Nice neighbours around there
ReplyDeleteHope whatever it was you had surgery for has ended well - that welcome feeling of being home again, especially to recuperate, is as healing as anything else. Have enjoyed browsing through your most recent photos. You have that "eye" for beautiful composition. Happy Christmas from a fellow nemophilist :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely nothing wrong with a quiet Christmas. There are many that wish they could have that. YOu sound well on the mend. Loves homemade soups in the winter.
ReplyDeleteIt sure sounds like you had a rough way to go...I am glad you are through it. Hopefully you feel more like your normal self every day now.
ReplyDeleteAbout some of the pics on my blog, they were not from now...from other years, other times of the seasons.
It has been a couple sort of rough weeks here...last week and this just trying to make phone calls and get things accomplished has been enough to drive a sane person crazy, much less me. Then I know you saw our granddaughter was in the hospital for three days...while I hated that I am so thankful that they had help available. There are always times when I wish we could go back in time and live, but I always say I would not be willing to give up doctors and medicines in order to go back.
I am glad you are home safely and recovering. That General Anesthesia can be a bugger to recover from..and the pain pills too:(
ReplyDeleteWell, I've had a scout through your recent posts and it seems you've had some surgery of some sort. All my very best wishes for a speedy recover, FG!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're back in the comfort of home FG.
ReplyDeleteUgh. Sounds like an experience one could live without. But I'm glad you're better for it, and returning to normal.
ReplyDeleteI was only on anesthetic once. I remember having a bad reaction to it.
