I was busy working on something and happened to pass the kitchen window. Imagine my surprise to look out and see three White-tailed Deer crossing the yard. We haven't seen any all year, though we often see their tracks.
But I missed it by a nose! The first one had gone on ahead, and then the second headed after it. I almost caught these two, but not quite!
Luckily, the third one didn't run and I got 3 or 4 pictures as it crossed the meadow out back.
It stopped to nibble on what looked like the seed pods of last year's Evening Primrose.
And kept looking up alertly, watchful for trouble.
It was nice to see them at least once this year. I see their tracks all the time when I walk the woods on the farm next door.
And earlier that morning, Mrs. Sharp-eyes F.G. had spotted this rabbit resting under our trailer. Not very good lighting under there for a good picture. Beautiful day here as the bitter cold is over and we're having seasonal temperatures. Even worked in the garage for several hours cleaning up.
