It dawned a beautiful sunny day, so we headed out for a drive. Stopped by Lake Eugenia to see the swans, then in Durham to see McGowan Falls, which was flowing high and fast! Then via Chesley and Paisley we made our way to Port Elgin, and stopped on the shoreline of Lake Huron. Hoping for some swans or other waterfowl, but not a bird in sight. But there was a good fabric store in town, and several nice restaurants, one of which provided lunch. Then on to Southampton next door, and down to the harbour. Still no birds, but both of these towns have kept their entire waterfronts pretty well in public ownership which is nice. And a good bakery in town too. Both the bakery and the fabric stores were busy, a sure sign of good stuff and good service at reasonable prices. We did spend a little bit at both places!

What a difference a week makes!
The pictures are nothing special, but what a difference a week makes!! Our front, side and back yard last Monday morning, and late this afternoon. Can't remember a spring melt this early and fast!

It is amazing how fast the snow goes with the land and temps rising . Oh sounds like you had a nice day . Port Elgin is where an old friend had a cottage years ago nice area up there . lovely photos Thanks for sharing , have a good day ! Spring your clocks one hour forward tonight .
ReplyDeleteThat was a quick melt. It sure has been a crazy winter weather wise.
ReplyDeleteNice pictures showing the melt.
Astonishing contrast. And really good shots, incidentally. A good study in 'before and after'!
ReplyDeleteIt has been the same here ! Nice set of pics!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! What a nice guy to join the wife at the fabric store. Mine goes sometimes, too. The spring thaw seems too quick. Crazy mild year in our area, too.
ReplyDeleteWow! A week can take the snow so quickly! Amazing.
ReplyDeletethose before photos show ore snow than we've had all winter. Our early crocus are in bloom now, and it looks like yours will be soon.
ReplyDeleteBet ya a nickel you get lots more snow!!!
ReplyDeletewow, you've had quite the warm spell!
ReplyDeleteA vast difference. We still have more snow.
ReplyDeletedo I see the land is starting to thaw out a bit there? hopefully you can get outdoors more :-)
ReplyDeleteAn amazing contrast, whether it's spring on the way or just a brief respite. Here it seems to be going both ways at once - cold nights, foggy mornings and then sunny and increasingly mild afternoons.
ReplyDeleteTwo words leap out to me " Fabric Store", that would be worth any weight in gold on a day out. And look at the difference in your photos, it has melted so fast. Down here, some places have already had a frost, the Central Plateau in the North Island, and in Otago further south. About 6C this morning. Cooler in the daytime, making sewing and quilting a pleasure.
ReplyDeleteHello, it is amazing to see the difference in your photos. I am sure the rivers and water levels are up!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a nice day out. Happy Sunday, enjoy your week ahead!
Love this time of year snow gone temps warming up and everything beginning to turn green again.
ReplyDeleteThese contrasting photos are wonderful to see! And yes, it's almost officially spring, and it looks like it has come to your part of the world, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou have spring too! Nice to see your photos in winter and then late winter with the melt! I don't see anything green yet! :)
