Just a few reflections today, from the beaver pond I posted pictures of yesterday. These December skies are so gloomy if there's no sun that everything looks dark. We're entering the darkest two weeks of the year, when the sun seems to rise only a short bit above the southern horizon, but in only 10 days we'll pass the winter solstice and the days will start getting longer!!
I'm longing for some brighter colours to photograph, but I'm beginning to appreciate the subtle shades of brown, grey and dark green that are marking this strange late fall/early winter season. Walked one hour + 15 minutes with the dog today; for 20 minutes of that she was off her leash romping and sniffing her way through the woods.

Nice reflections! Don't worry not much longer and the days will begin to get longer again..
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you don't have ice!
ReplyDeleteThere is still beauty during these dark days till the shortest day of the year.
ReplyDelete10 days, and our daylight hours will shorten, and we are not really into summer yet.!!! Love those sombre reflections.
ReplyDeleteIt looks very serene!
ReplyDeleteMuch the same here most of the time, rather dark and gloomy. In fact probably darker as Southern England is further north than you.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos ! It has been soo cloudy and gloomy here not the best for taking photos for me I love sunshine it brings out the greys and browns of the land more ! Thanks for sharing , have a good day !
ReplyDeleteLook for beauty in every season, I say. You might find unexpected color! Just yesterday my husband and I saw the bright red crest on a ruby crowned kinglet for the first time ever.
ReplyDeleteI see plenty of beauty as nature takes time off and rests. We are having record breaking warmth and beautiful blue skies and gorgeous sunsets. It's very unusual for us here at the jersey shore. I am appreciating it so much.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind winter, I kinda' like the shorter days and slower pace. I've probably said that before!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!
We are almost at the nadir: Monday, December 21 at 8:49pm here in the Pacific Northwest. Yay! :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful water reflections. It is fun to find shots like that in the viewfinder.
