Yes. it's snow!

There are reliable reports of snow last night and this morning in the region.  And the forecast tonight is for our first serious lake-effect snow of the year.  It's not unusual for mid to late October, all part of the changing 'seasons in the valley'.

The most I've seen is this snow shower or sleet that shows up against the dark evergreen, but others have reported white-outs!.  We'll see what it looks like in the morning!

A Small Setback

Late last Friday afternoon I came down with some serious chills.  Within a couple of hours Mrs. F.G. had me on an ambulance headed for our local hospital, all of three blocks away.  After numerous blood tests I was admitted, and I only got home 3 hours ago.  What would be a minor fever for most they treated very seriously in my case.  After 7 months in the big hospitals in London, the most important thing I have to do is watch out for any infections, especially those that might affect my kidneys.

This is a small town, rural hospital, but my doctor is in touch with  specialists in bigger centres who can confirm what treatment I need.  Sorry, no blog the last 5 nights.  I've come home with one hand all wrapped up in gauze to protect an IV line, so I don't know how typing will get done in the next few days either!

  1. I'm so sorry to hear about your setback, but I'm glad they are taking everything so seriously. Stay warm and snug while it snows outside! No need to worry about the next post, just as long as there IS a next one! :-)

  3. Sorry to hear about your setback and hope all goes well for you. We had a few few snow fluffier here in Plattsville and will go down to freezing tonight, almost there now at 7:30 pm time for us to hit the road again and head south for some warmer climates.
Good luck there and hope to hear some new positive postings from you in the near future.

  4. Sorry to hear about your set-back---but it sounds like you have very caring doctors....

Keep on plugging... You are a fighter --and have such a good attitude...

Have you tried something like Dragon Naturally Speaking software..... You speak and it records what you say... Google Voice will also do it --and so will Siri.....

As much as I LOVE snow --I'll wait until Christmas for some here. ha

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  6. The hospitals close by are such a bonus, and an ambulance, we have one a few minutes away and the hospital about 25 minutes. So glad they took great care of you once again. Snow, I still think it is magical, but down here we have green grass growing, bubs blooming, flowers flourishing, and packing, packing, and more packing. Hooray, we have a new home, scheduled for 7th December move in date. Take care, and heed those warning signs, when I had kidney infections, I shook, BP went so high, and I felt so ill. Guess you know all the signs, and Mrs F.G. is the one to act promptly.

  7. Ah, snow! All the best to you, you were missed. Sounds like you're on IV antibiotics, that's the best way to administer antibiotics when you really need them.

  11. Keep that IV in place - don't use that hand anymore that absolutely necessary ! Lucky you did the golf course earlier, with snow the ground is messier to drive around on. Thanks for the update - good care all round.

  12. We missed you and thank Maria for the earlier note re our visit. Next year. How fortunate to be so close to a hospital, you need that. Glad to hear you are back home again.
We were not so lucky to only have a skiff. Our ground is white and we had the whiteouts yesterday off and on between the sunshine breaks. Bill cleared the steps 3 times after supper to take Clemson out. time to move!

  14. We noticed your absence but figured you needed a break.
You should teach Mrs FG how to fill in during your down days.
Your health is the most important thing for both of you.
Worry about Blogging when you are feeling better.

  19. Set backs are discouraging while recoveries are encouraging. Must have been discouraging to be back in a hospital setting again while encouraging to know it was not permanent, problem would be solved, and you would be going home again.
