Fall has a jump on us

We drove south to Markdale for thanksgiving dinner tonight (delicious!) and hoped to get some pictures of the emerging fall colour.  It appears that the fall colour is well ahead of us, with miles of red and orange Sugar Maple along the roads and up the valleysides.  However very few pictures tonight because fog and smirr kept invading.

The long foggy hill out of Meaford.
Colour up the valleysides, but fog on the ridge.

The iphone camera isn't good enough to capture images from a moving car.

Turkey Vultures overhead.

On the first sunny day we'll be out driving some of the same roads.

  1. Although we have few fall colors as yet, we certainly have clouds and fog -- it's getting tiresome.

  2. Glad you are able to get out and Enjoy the So-So Picturesque Scenery.
Even from a moving car they still look good.
Wishing you both a Happy Thanksgiving!
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  3. Blurry makes for good guessing. We had our Thanksgiving dinner today - almost didn't - last night the stove decided to not heat up and kept flashing Probe/Bake. We turned the circuits off twice but still no heat. Maybe it was a timed thing - this morning the stove worked normally. The turkey was cooked and we didn't have to go to our backup plan of going to London Drugs and buying a turkey roaster.
    Happy Thanksgiving.

  7. Glad to hear you had a good dinner, even if the weather didn't behave as it should. I hope you get a clear, fine spell soon.

  8. I had to look up 'smirr' ... not a word we use ... maybe because we're either in a gully washer, or have blue skies. :)

  9. The colours are out there but not very nice with the overcast skies and fog , A nice day should be here soon.

  11. I, too, had to look smirr up. Love the vocab boosts I get from your posts! :)
Nice pictures regardless of travel blurr.
Good that you enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner away from home.

  12. Does the camera have a sports speed on it? That is what I use to get photos while in the moving car. Helps some. But the moving photos make me feel like I am in a ride along enjoying all the fall colors!

  13. I agree about the iPhone Camera. I bragged on mine today in my blog post --but those were night pictures and not from a moving car. The Canon does better with 'moving car' photos....

BUT--I'm jealous of your pretty Fall Colors. So far--we are still having SUMMER here --in OCTOBER... Huh?????? ha ... Hopefully we are supposed ???? to get some cooler weather this weekend... I HOPE.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  15. Your foggy picture looks like morning around here for the last couple of weeks. Does make for good pictures though.

  16. Your second and third shots are my favourites.

We've had a lot of grey days lately here, but looking out a window just now, the sun seems to be trying to poke through.
