I think my fascination with emerging leaves in the spring goes back to about grade six when we were given a science project to find buds on trees or shrubs and measure them to see how fast they emerged. Enthusiastically, since it was an outdoor project, I tied strings to a dozen different plants and measured. I don't remember the results, but I've been fascinated to watch every spring since.
These three views of the Sugar Maple are straight out the window.
The Norway Maple out back was the first to turn green and now the leaves on it have completely turned green. Hope the world is now green where you are. And it's actually HOT here now.
I'm glad they don't all leaf out at the same time, but I don't see too many unleafed around and about.
ReplyDeleteWe do see some trees that do leaf out late.
ReplyDeleteLeaves are slowly emerging here. Another week I’d guess.
ReplyDeleteMost of our trees are fully leafed out; only the Oak is slow but that's normal. Glad you're getting lovely weather.
ReplyDeleteYes, once the leaves start coming, it doesn't take long at all before the leave are fully out.
ReplyDeleteThey have certainly busted open in the heat this week!
ReplyDeleteIt seems that the leaves open overnight - at least here. It's looking very green here now and will only get greener as we had a good rain the last two days.
ReplyDeleteGlad the heat reached you - it's been a chilly couple of days after the heat in the first part of the week. Enjoy!
The world is green here too, except the trees right close to us. They provided some shade in past years but not so sure what they'll do as we go forward. The frost wasn't kind to them this spring.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to watch leaves open in the springtime. I like the transition from bare to beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLeaves have sure been exploding out these past few days. We have a Basswood tree in our yard that doesn't leaf out until June.
ReplyDeleteeveryday we ride in the car i notice the green, and speak out with appreciation. i think i appreciate everything so much more this year, everything seems so green and beautiful!!
ReplyDeletei really enjoyed your images today!!
