The Pansies Survived!

I'm still amazed at the ability of Pansies to flourish right through cold weather.  I keep attributing human feelings to them and thinking they'll be cold!  Of course there's no rational reason to think that.  They are actually adapted to flourish in the cool spring weather, and to struggle in mid-summer when it gets hot.  They got snowed on again, but popped right back up yesterday.

Late Thursday.

Saturday morning.

  1. I must be somehow emotionally attached to the small pot of pansies that we were given a few weeks back, as I have been bringing them in out of the cold any time it gets anywhere near freezing. I'm sure they'd survive. But if not, well crap, I'd have to go get more. Gah!

  8. I'm not sure my pansies are still surviving. If they did, they might not for much longer with the heat and little rain. Each year I dead head them during summer and throw the flowers to dry in an empty pot. They start to sprout by fall and stay small. For two years they've lasted that way through winter to flourish the next spring. But of course on the west coast we get a lot less cold and snow that you do. - Margy

  10. Snow...in May. It has happened over the years, but it never ceases to amaze me. Lovely bright pansies. I am hoping to get to the garden centre soon for my plants, but few are open here. Have a great week.

  12. I'm not surprised at all; they survive our winters here - I bought some that were in bud back in October and they flowered throughout the winter and are now flowering with renewed vigour now the weather is warming up.
