Five years ago today our lives were shattered when our oldest son William was killed while fighting a forest fire in northern Alberta. He was a water bomber pilot, whose plane went down in a fire tornado. He is always in our hearts.
William 1977 - 2015
I am sure it is a difficult day for you and Mrs FG, may your good memories give you some comfort.
ReplyDeleteWhat a brave young man he must have been. I can't even begin to imagine how horrific it must be to lose your child. My thoughts are with you and Mrs. G on this day.
ReplyDeleteThat part of you will never forget that William was doing what he loved to do no matter what the risks. May your hearts heal but forever hold his memory.
ReplyDeleteIt's about time.
i will never understand why hero's like this perish while helping others. i am sure he is resting in peace, watching over you and the mrs. i can't believe it's been 5 years, my thoughts and prayers are with you both!!
ReplyDeleteEvery summer, when we see the water bombers, I always think of your son and thank him for his service.

ReplyDeleteI did not know this. You have a piece of my heart today. May your son always be remembered.

ReplyDeleteI remember that, FG, and thinking how brave you were to talk about it. My heart goes out to you. Those you love never leave you, do they?
ReplyDeleteI was just looking at your page about him a few days ago...I think about you two and him every now and then. And cannot imagine the loss you felt/still feel.
ReplyDeleteOur hearts feel your pain- a pain beyond believing - what a wonderful person your son must have been to work at such a dangerous and important job, saving others.
ReplyDeleteI remember. So tragic. The rest of us appreciate these brave people who work to fight fires.
ReplyDeleteI love you and your family. I feel your pain and sorrows.

This time of May will always be a sad time for you both. I can't even begin to imagine the kind of sorrow you must have experienced. And the remaining level of sadness that will forever be present.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you both today FG.
ReplyDeleteA sad day to remember, for sure.
ReplyDeletehat is such a tough anniversary. I remember when it happened. I can't believe I have been following that long. It is good. My first wife's death remains in my mind and heart from 40 years ago but I have moved on nicely.
