We met my sister and brother-in-law Saturday for lunch at one of our favourite restaurants downtown. It features a great breakfast menu, which I took advantage of. We had a nice visit at home after, and I got the perfect early Christmas present from my brother-in-law! It was a brilliantly fluorescent orange hat!
You've all seen my fluorescent orange summer hat, but I have to tell you it's pretty chilly for this time of year, and one effect of my paralysis is that I do feel the cold a lot more. The best part is that Mrs. F.G. likes this one, and will let me wear it out in public - perfect.
But you really have to see the full winter version to appreciate this - warm black furry fabric on the inside and bright orange on the outside, right down to the ear flaps. And complete with a silvery band of reflective tape, great!
But that's not all! It arrived complete with an easily attachable red flashing strobe light that goes on top! You really have to see this to believe it. Maybe I'll take a video for you in a darkened room There are about six different patterns of red flashes you can choose from. This will keep me amused for years!
What a great gift! And yes please on that video! :-)
ReplyDeleteI like your hat, very Halloweeny with all that orange and black. That light on top is quite the idea. Now all you need is an 'OOGA OOGA' horn to move slower traffic out of your way.
ReplyDeleteDon't you look fine in your new hat! Looks toasty warm and the flashing red light is something I've never seen. : )
ReplyDeleteI need to get my grandson a hat like that! He NEEDS to be seen when on the job site.
ReplyDeletegood to see you looking so happy, the hat is marvelous!!!
ReplyDeleteMagnificent to the last flap!!!! Love it, our s-in-law could do with one like that in the far south, even the light too,Waiting to see it in the dark, you will not get lost.
ReplyDeleteI loved it until I saw the strobe light. That is a bit over the top... well, on the top, anyway!
ReplyDeleteNo chance of not being noticed in that! You remind me of one of my young students who received a wheelchair with headlights, indicators and warning lights on it (all paid for by the famous soccer player David Beckham's charitable trust incidentally). We spent many evenings exploring the school's unlit corridors in the dark evenings! Are you getting any Christmas lights for your chair?
ReplyDeleteYou have the opportunity for a new career -- model. Seriously, it might be a good idea to get one of those flashing bicycle taillights to put on the back of your wheelchair when you're out and about.
ReplyDeleteI like it! Your new hat looks very warm.
ReplyDeleteNow you can be out after dark! Love the light!
ReplyDeleteThat works!
