On and From the Deck

The plants we've put in pots on the deck, and others in the adjacent gardens that Mrs. F.G., the horticulturalist, organized last year (all plants we had brought from our former home) are doing well now that we actually have some warm days.  Note I said 'warm', not 'hot', still actually quite cool.

A beautiful deep purple Clematis in a pot, waiting to be planted.  Ok, is it Clematis or Clematis?

The first tomato flower.  We have three plants, all heritage varieties grown by our son from seed.

The beautiful bright pink of our two Geranium pots.

The rabbits chewed this Parsley down to half inch stems when it was within reach.  Now it sits 3 feet up on a cart on the deck, and is rebounding nicely.

Some of the tiny little Daisies that pop up in the grass, at a house down the road.

A Song Sparrpw songing loudly, right out in the open this time.  I lightened the exposure so you could see the cark spot on its breast.

Actually, most of our garden is green, hostas and ferns.  This is my little corner off the back deck with Rhubarb, Christmas Fern (the tall straight one) and Fragile Fern.

  2. That is one pretty clematis -- no matter how it's pronounced.

  3. Wonderful pictures. I need to take a few pictures of my tomato blossoms, too. And hoping for some delightful fruit from them, too. :-)

  5. Ferns are always good value, and add that greenery to shady places. Love the Clematis, and down here I use the accent on the "at". We have rain, and more rain. The painter braved the downpour and has arrived to add more to the window sills and door frames.

  7. Your garden looks wonderful.
Hope your Fern is in a Flower-Box and not the ground. Our's tried taking over our entire yard. It took years to kill it off.
Be Safe and Enjoy this wonderful weather.

    It's about time.

  8. The garden is looking good. Here we've had a week of chilly wet weather that's playing havoc with some of the flowers, though most will recover when the sun eventually finds us. Yes, it always used to be cle-MATE-iss; the one day a man on the TV gardening programme said CLEMM-atis and all the other TV gardeners started doing the same but the rest of the population have been rather reluctant to follow their example.

  9. I was in North Carolina last week, and enjoyed listening to a wonderful song bird everywhere I went. I asked a couple locals what it was. Never got an answer. Loud like a Carolina wren; trilled like a mockingbird.

  11. Yes I've heard Clematis pronounced both ways and for that reason I started just calling them 'Clemmies' years ago. We have four of them here. Always great to have a horticulturist in the family to help with all the names of things. People ask me about plants in our yard and I usually have to tell them I just don't know. Always a bit embarrassing of course not knowing the trees, shrubs, and flowers one has in one's own yard.

  12. My husband left me last year after 25 years of marriage (he turned 50). It has been the most difficult year of my life, but full of lessons about myself and what life and marriage are all about. I am passionate about marriage and i didn't give up on my husband. resides in USA, I entered online in search of advice on how i can amend my marriage while i was at work. I saw so many positive reviews and nice feed back about how a Doctor called Robinson.buckler@yahoo.com has been wonderful with his work. I gave a shot to make contact with him via his Email and he assured me that my marriage will be peaceful and i believed in his words. 16 hours after he finished work, my husband came back home pleading and now, we are living peacefully again. Get in contact with him if you need any help.
