How About a Sunset

Enjoyed a beautiful sunset over Canoe Channel that evening.  There's something special about a sunset over water.

And around here today we've had three different weather systems - dull rain this morning, followed by bright sunshine and a cool breeze for several hours, followed by the windiest rainstorm I can recall, still going on.

Definitely some dark skies today!

The wind was strong enough to push me to check my favourite wind pattern website, 'Earth: a global map of wind, weather and ocean conditions'.  Look at the swirling counter-clockwise wind pattern around southern Ontario tonight.  Brighter colours show stronger winds.

And if you're interested in wind patterns, check out the three old hurricanes moving slowly up the Atlantic.  At the actual website you can see all these lines in motion.  Sorry for the blurry screen grab image.  Check out the real one here!  This is a website you might want to bookmark if you're interested in such things.

  1. Pale blue, paler orange, darker background and water, lovely, What a great link, swirls all round the bottom of NZ, I will keep that link, thanks so much. how is the packing going? You will be well in before your winter is in full force. Has Mrs F.G. measured out HER room for the new quilting machine? Mine is still waiting for a heap of TLC and repairs.

  4. As you know I love the sunrises and sunsets. Those wind patterns are very cool! When you look at your link at the real thing, it makes what we get very very mild, doesn't it?

  5. Gorgeous orange sky. I am listening to the rain pound the roof and thinking of my walk this morning with the ladies. It will be a wet on, it seems. Fall is definitely here. Love those swirly wind patterns. :-)

  8. I like all that timber you have on the lake. It makes it a dramatic photo. The fall seems to bring us such drastic changes in weather. I heat the house in the morning with the gas fireplace and then have the air on in the afternoon so the bvordercollied doesn't get too warm. I like the wind patter thing. I will have to see if I can find that.
