On the other hand, I think I can manage a brief post with a picture or two, since I took typing decades ago and can type wihtout looking at my fingers. I won't be editing any pictures though. This is a beautiful old single room school a few miles north of here. I noticed driving around the other day a number of former small churches and one room schools that are now residences. I think I could make a good collection of some of them for the record. Winter is a good time, because with no leaves on the trees they are more visible.
Since I have very little vision in my other eye, and the eye I had surgery on is still foggy with the swelling, reading blogs is particularly hard. I have already given up on any where the font is small, or doesn't provide enough contrast, like gray lettering on white background. But if I enlarge the lettering as big as it will go, to 3 or 4 words across on my ipad, and scroll across for each line, I can manage til I'm tired of it (holding my ipad 3" from my face). If you want to see the blog that is easiest to read (and also one of the best written and most interesting, check out Al's blog on 'Travel with the Bayfield Bunch'. His bold yellow lettering on a black background is the single easiest blog to read that I have found!
After all our snow so far this winter, it's above freezing now, and we may get rain tonight. We'll see what kind of a mess we have tomorrow!
Take care, FG. Speedy healing!
ReplyDeleteThat's something worth taking time away to let the recovery take hold.
ReplyDeleteThe schoolhouse reminds me very much of one near where I grew up, but I imagine it would have dated back to the same era.
We'll miss your posts and comments while your healing, hopefully it won't take long.
ReplyDeleteIf Mrs.Furry Gnome reads this to you, don't bother coming to my blogs...you would not be able to read them. Just take care of your eye....
ReplyDeleteI hope you do go around and document some of the old churches and schools. I love this one.
Sending healing wishes your way, follow Drs orders !
ReplyDeleteLove the schoolhouse, if walls could talk....
Jo
I hope you have a rapid recovery.
ReplyDeleteAll good wishes for a recovery that goes to plan. Lovely church, the words all read like clockwork, and if all else fails,I am sure Mrs F.G. will help, and read out our replies. A good time to be a little laid up . In the South Island, not far from where our daughter lives, a couple renovated an old church, and made it into a delightful home.
ReplyDeleteI do hope your eyes get better quickly. It's probably the hardest thing we must do without: our eyesight. :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad your surgery went well! Wishing you a speedy recovery/
ReplyDeleteSpeedy recovery on your surgery. As we all know eyes are VERY important.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful old school. I love seeing the old schools and churches. On the ranch my daughter lives on was an old one room school--built for the kids in the area. Wel it finally fell and while I was very sad about that it was either fall or invite the government in to take it over----I thought not but I am not the owner.
On my post is a video of snow geese you don't need to read anything jut listen to it.
The snowfall in your previous post is very COLD looking.
Take care

GET WELL SOON. NICE SCHOOL BUILDING.
ReplyDeletePretty good there, good luck with a speedy recovery
ReplyDeleteHope your eye recovery works out well for you.
ReplyDeleteThe old school house brings back some memories.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Give your eyes a rest. The blogs will be there to catch up on when things settle down. My sisters cataract surgery in November didn't give her the results she was hoping for. She STILL can't read her beloved paperback novels. Dr. assures her it will improve with time.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully shot! Best wishes on recovery.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great old building. I pray your eye heals quickly.
ReplyDeleteI love the little schoolhouses and churches we have in our area such history they hold . Glad all went well with your surgery hope you have a full and fast recovery . We had so much rain from last night and through the day today and warm temps it is all green here again and the river is very full . Thanks for sharing , Have a good week !
ReplyDeleteAlways lovely to see your photo's.
ReplyDeleteDo take care and give your eye a rest, allow some healing time.
Thinking of you
All the best Jan
I like that snowy school house photo. All the best with that eye recovery. Good eyes are needed for good photography and you have both of them. Thanks for the kind words in your post. The cheques in the mail:))
ReplyDeleteWishing you a speedy recovery and enhanced vision, so that you may continue to see clearly and photograph the gorgeous landscapes that surround you.
ReplyDeleteI do hope your eye continues to heal so you can enjoy reading again. I'll pop over and visit the blog you recommended. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI had to go back and catch up when I read about your eye surgery. I do hope your eye continues to improve. Having just had cataract surgery myself this spring, and then another surgery two weeks ago, I understand how these eye surgeries can really set you back. Take care.
