Hope you enjoyed my posts from winters of the past, I think we're back to something similar now. We finally got a significant dump of snow last Sunday, with about 10" falling. Snow squall warnings for several days this week and the School Board promptly panicked, so we had three 'snow days' out of five this week! But the cross-country skiers and snowmobilers were thrilled, finally!
Here's our view out back, snowing lightly at the time, pretty well white and you can see the snow creeping up on our snow crane. His head is certainly buried at this point. This was Jan. 14, last Sunday. It hasn't really stopped snowing since.
Just to remind you, this was the view three days earlier, a nice skiff of the white stuff, but not much for mid-January! And our snow stick looks almost normal.
Even then the scenery was pretty nice - as long as you just wanted to look at it. Feels much more normal now.
Wednesday and Thursday are my 'getting out' days now, physio on Wednesday and lunch/coffee yesterday. Enjoyed them both, but it's getting harder and harder for Mrs. F.G. to drop me off for lunch. I use the Meaford transit successfully for my physio appointments; it's only available for the disabled.
We also had 3 snow days this week after getting a foot of snow. It's starting to melt now so we'll be back to normal soon.
ReplyDeleteYou will be saying , summer come quickly, while down here sweltering in over 32C in the verandah, night-times are almost as hot, roll on winter I say. The Crane can just pretend he can think better when his head is buried !!! Update, daughter and son-in-law have a Merc Sprinter, side ramp entry with the ramp in an electric box under the chassis, new passenger seat fitted, and rear opening doors for extra luggage. Ralph does say the passenger seat is not as comfortable as the Santa Fe. They hope extra straps like a pilot harness might help.Have you any friends who find this the same problem?
ReplyDeleteThe cold is making its way out, so I expect we'll see more snow over the next few weeks too. But you've got us beat for the amount on the ground already.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind the snow when the day is sunny, but when it is overcast and gray not so much.
We have more than two feet of snow out back. I had fun trying to walk in it this afternoon. :) Pretty slow going.
ReplyDeleteWe had snow, and I’m tired of it already. That last shot is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like we're seeing the impact of the changing climate. Some folks like the warmer winters, but it's actually a tragedy. Down here we finally have a bit of snow, perhaps four inches on the ground, but that will be gone by Friday.
ReplyDeleteI know that I spotted a squalls warning up your way early last week (I think). Like you, we have plenty of the white stuff.
ReplyDeleteYes, that looks like winter in Ontario. As long as you can get out for your appointments and a bit of fresh air, that's good.
ReplyDeletePeople who love it will be happy.
If we have snow and wind the kids have snow days here. The drifting over the open fields makes it so dangerous to drive around the island. The kids lose numerous school days every year.
ReplyDeleteOur snow is like yours today!
We have warmed up and much of our snow has melted from last week's snowstorm. But now it's still slushy and slippery where it's not plowed, like our driveway. :-(
ReplyDeleteYou definitely have more snow than we do 112 miles south of you.
