The Leaves Are Turning Fast Now!

As I drive around it seems that the tree leaves are turning fast now, most of them to yellow rather than red, but still there's a colourful beauty around us now that will only last for two or three weeks.  These pictures are taken nearby but beyond our own street.

Two beautiful trees just around the corner.

Some reddish leaves but mostly yellow.

And around a further two or three blocks are the yellow leaves of another tree.

I love this tree because I can get so close.

And how about this Burning Bush!

Wednesday I undertook an expedition to our local cemetery, beautiful at this time of year.  I had the driver drop me off there, I spent 45 minutes taking pictures, and then I rode home, a long but enjoyable ride.  The next couple of posts will feature some of those photos.

  3. Very, very yellow, beautiful nonetheless. Down here burning bush is an invasive exotic plant that dominates the understory of some woodlands. It eliminates native wildflowers and does nothing for wildlife -- but it certainly is pretty in the fall.

  4. Glad you are able to get out still and enjoy the colours.

  5. Maples are such amazing trees in so many ways! Their autumn colour is one!

  6. Leaves don't hang around very long for you to see and enjoy them.

  7. You have pictures of leaves with such strong colors. We are still pale in comparison. Some trees start dropping them as soon as they turn. Great shots.

  10. There seems to be a lot of yellows around this year and fewer red trees that are holding on to their leaves.

  11. Our trees have all pretty much shed their finery. When I was down to Peterborough last week, there was still some pretty spectacular scenery.

  12. You've inspired me to keep looking more closely. Driving around I sometimes see pretty trees, but there's nowhere to pull over. Getting on the ground does help, and the slower approach provides more opportunities to frame leaves and trees in contrasts...as you've done so well here.

  13. Where we are in the North Island we do get some lovely autumn leaf colours but in the far south they are so much deeper, more like what your pics show today, Those golden yellows are wonderful, but the burning bush is glorious, Hugh always said a tractor drive would give us more time to see the scenery. Guess your chair does just that. Hope we see more as your colder days are more intense.
