At Least It Held Off Until November!

Well, the white stuff held off until November at least, and actually this was a very mild first snowfall, not like 20" or anything!  It was barely an inch, even overnight.  And the forecast is for wonderful warmer weather by mid-week, and lasting for an entire week!  Yeay!

You could see the snow approaching across the golf course, and soon it was slashing down across the background of the dark evergreens.

It took a good hour or more to accumulate this much on the leaves below the window, and it didn't look like it would amount to much.  In the end it didn't.

But it did look pretty for awhile, coating the grass, lawn and leaves.

Actually looked quite nice across the golf course.

And it did accumulate on those leaves.  The forecast said more would fall overnight.

And we woke up to this, a pretty thin coating of snow and initially sunny skies.  I thought it would be gone soon, but sadly the skies turned grey and the temperature has stayed below freezing, and most of the snow is still here.  But look at the forecast and it's very encouraging.  Our new library opens today and maybe I can even ride downtown to see it later in the week!!

  1. It looks cold, and I'm glad to see that the snow is really pretty. You can keep it, though. :-)

  2. It is too early for this stuff to stay around, right? I hope it does warm up a bit for you, FG.

  5. Sorry the white stuff heralds the end of your rides about town, but I really do like winter and the snow it brings. Yesterday while raking leaves I thought that I'd really prefer to be clearing snow. In any case, the seasons change and each has its good and bad aspects for mere humans.

  6. I too thought more snow was coming overnight and was glad to get up this morning and see it hadn't. Winter weather will be here soon enough without it having to come extra early!!

  8. Sounds like the overnight snow came to our area, northwest of you. Even Hanover and Durham had less than we did but it is gone now and that is aok by us! Looking forward to the warm week we'll be seeing tomorrow. Enjoy!
