I counted 51 in this picture, but there were more scattered around the back of the yard.
Most days we only have one or two, but they are beginning to show those yellow colours of spring.
It was actually hard to get pictures without some birds in the air. Blurry images, but fun.
We do occasionally see other birds, but very few of them. Just a Chickadee or two and a Downy Woodpecker now and then. They kept visiting while the Goldfinch were away.
And of course we still have the squirrels.
One of whom made a valiant attempt to get seed from the feeder today, but to no avail.
The Goldfinches disappeared down here too but have been back for about a week now. It is a mystery where they all went!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen this many at one spot...Really cool.
ReplyDeleteThat is the most valiant of all tries to get a meal!!! Love the yellow feathers showing.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen so many goldfinches. We had very few at The Ridge. Beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteThe goldfinches put on a colorful show. Goldfinches don't over winter here
ReplyDeleteWoweeeeeeeee! The Goldfinch is the Washington State Bird and I've never seen one at our feeders. I've seen them at other places, rarely - but never at our house. Just love those in-flight photos. And the squirrels in the snow - great shots.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great viewing position you have, FG. Nature at the doorstep.
ReplyDeleteThat is a whole lotta goldfinch! I used to have them at my feeders but they were mostly after niger seed. :-)
ReplyDeleteSo cool. Reminds me...need to go up the feeders.
ReplyDeleteThe squirrels drive my dog mad! I was so happy to see the finches starting to show their spring colors! We don't have many this year, but I'm sure the spruce trees are alive with them!
ReplyDeleteThat sure is a lot of goldfinches. I've never seen so many at one time.
ReplyDeleteWe won't be feeding the birds at the new house.
Don't want to put out seeds because it will draw the bears.
There must be some reason the goldfinches are absent for awhile. They are pretty.
ReplyDeleteI guess they just flock up and move around for the winter. Who knows! Love the squirrel pic with snow on them.
ReplyDeleteThey all look quite happy sitting there munching the food that's put out for them.
ReplyDeleteI like your squirrel proof feeders. You never can tell about birds and why they come and go, sometimes I think that someone goes on vacation and they stop feeding the birds so they have to find another diner:)
