S-N-0-W!

Well it was just a whiff actually, but as we headed out this morning, there was definitely white stuff blowing into the windshield.  And as we headed south from Meaford, there was more, until the ground looked white.

And guess where the greatest accumulation was?  Right at our old house in the 'Highlands'.  Yes, we always believed there was a cloud that sat right above our house and dumped a little extra!   It's true!

But it was only a trace actually, and soon it changed to rain, so we were in and out of rain, sleet and dark grey clouds, and patches of sunshine, all the way to London.  Since we've moved to Meaford, the drive is really 4 hours, allowing for stops and a few minutes leeway.  And that makes it four hours back again, a ten hour day with the medical apt. itself and stops to eat.

I'm not going to bother you with details of the planned surgery, but one in December, and one later in the winter.  And we now have great confidence in our two surgeons having met them both and got their explanations.  I'll let you know later how it all goes; keep your toes crossed for the next four months in the meantime!  It's actually encouraging to know that we live with a great health care system, and we're at the cutting edge of modern medicine.  Now I'm looking forward to more hiking, paddling and biking, and travelling, next summer and for many years thereafter!

  3. Snow on the very day you travel. Planned surgery is way better than an emergency, so I am hoping you stay well until later this year, December will be here soon enough.

  8. Hello, I am not a snow lover or winter lover. I hope it does not happen here any time soon. Your health is important, stay well. Have a happy Wednesday!

  9. Ah, snow! Yesterday I mowed our lawn for the last time this year (I hope) -- would much rather shovel snow. Your fortunate to have a good health care system in Canada, down here some insurance company would limit your choices and might not pay for a procedure if they could find a way to wiggle out of paying.

  10. We've got a cold front on the way, but for now it's quite mild. Tomorrow on our hike it should be cold and wet. I meant to say in my post that my corrected vision is 20/30, and after researching a bit on the internet, I should be there after cataract surgery too, with a bit more light coming in to help things. Good luck for your surgery; I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed just for you! :-)

I remember your snowy scenes from last winter, and I am looking forward to seeing more of that beauty this year!

  15. Yes I do agree we have a great health system here in Canada and we're lucky to have some of it right in London Ontario too. It's about an hour's drive for us to reach either University or St. Josephs. Yep definitely looked like some bits of snow you saw alright.

  16. Good luck on the surgeries...

I wanted to say that things are going okay...but Roger still has his chronic cough. We saw the ENT dr. yesterday and he is supposed to find a pulmonologist to send him to now. I was hoping to hear today.

  17. Hope it all goes well. We've just had that one afternoon of hail/slop so far. You are about the same latitude as Traverse City, and hour north of me, and probably influenced about the same by a large body of water to your west, although you are a bit more protected than we are.
