The point on the eastern horizon where the sun rises has moved a long distance south of course. At this point it was rising right in the gap between the trees.
I got one pre-dawn shot, and then the sun appeared in that gap.
The clouds were fascinating, but this formation all dissipated shortly after.
More recently, I grabbed these shots on my cellphone while on my evening walk. The clouds seemed really interesting.
But the iphone did a terrible job on the sunset shot, one of my worst sunset shots ever. Should have had a real camera!
The move has begun. We got the keys to the new house today, and sat there waiting for our appliances to be delivered by Sears. We breathed a huge sigh of relief when they did arrive, and then Mrs. F.G. spent an hour and a half taking the protective cling wrap off the fridge! For those of you not in Canada, Sears is one of our biggest department stores, with a long history. We have bought appliances there for 45 years, and seem to feel a certain loyalty, even though it's just a commercial store. Now they've announced they're going bankrupt, possibly any day now. So we were glad to get things before that happened! Meantime, thousands of employees will lose their jobs, and the managers will get paid big bonuses. It's not fair! Our loyalty has been to the employees, not the corporation!

Sadly, many great stores that have been around for years are closing. I personally, a lot of the failures are due to poor management. Great various sky sights.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful skies... those first few are interesting and unusual. I'm usually happy with my iPhone shots, but of course, my "real" camera is superior to the phone.
ReplyDeleteFirms seem to pay the top guys and gals the big salaries, and forget that if it wasn't for all the workers, they would not have any income!!! So glad that part of the move has gone to plan.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Pics as always.
ReplyDeleteGlad the start of your move went smoothly.
High Prices can't compete with On-Line Shopping.
It's always the workers that get the short end of the stick.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
awesome clouds
ReplyDeletelovely! so good to see blue skies too
ReplyDeleteSplendid pictures, though I'm feeling rather disappointed with myself as we had a gorgeous sunset here last night but somehow I couldn't find the energy to get out of the armchair! Nice to see that iPhone photos don't always work and that cameras still have a future, even if Sears' days are numbered.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully caught skies, those clouds are special with the sunrise light and the evening cloud skies are seem so ethereal.
ReplyDeleteWow, awesome shots and the first two will normally indicate a weather front coming in. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteGotta love the different cloud formations in the skies.
ReplyDeleteSad to hear about Sears this is what they call progress?
Hello, these are gorgeous skies and photos. Lovely captures from dawn to dusk. I am glad all went well with Sears delivering your appliances. I heard they are going out of business. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou were very lucky in getting your appliances just in the nick of time. I worked for Sears when it was Simpson-Sears back in 1967. Fairview Mall in Kitchener. I worked in the warehouse and occasionally on the delivery trucks. Although Smart Phones are convenient and take pretty good photos they certainly don't stack up against a quality DSLR camera. For those of us who use both the differences are clearly obvious.
ReplyDeleteEvery once in awhile I hanker for a camera with a zoom lens and more bells and whistles, but then I forget to carry it after the convenience of my phone. I am glad to hear the move has begun. I never shopped much at Sears, but I'm sorry to learn it's going the way of the dinosaurs. :-(
ReplyDeleteNice sky photos. Amazing how fast the sky changes from minute to minute.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are now in your new house. That is exciting.
All things come to an end, Sears has been around a long time. Glad you got your appliances just in time.
Nice job with the cell phone!! Sears USA is also going downhill...we've been loyal customers as well; so, I understand your pain. What do you do about service contracts now?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great selection of cloudscapes.
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
Amazing skies!
ReplyDeleteSo many employees left close to retirement and pensions in doubt. Stores are disappearing and on-line shopping is the thing now.
ReplyDeleteThe skies you captured are beautiful, FG.
Good luck in your new home!
Nice. Love the skies this time of year.
ReplyDeleteOh the photos are amazing. I could look at clouds - and cloud photos all day long - and into the night. So glad you got your appliances - our Sears store here in Bellingham closed several years ago - they've been in trouble ever since Kmart bought them - Kmart couldn't run their own stores - and now they've ruined Sears. We have always loved Sears - have shopped there for well over 50 years - we even had a tiny catalog store in Sitka, Alaska where I grew up - most everything we bought came from Sears, on the barge up from Seattle - a long wait - but fun when the packages arrives. We ordered, clothes, shoes, dishes, fabric by the bundle (it would list fabric as "childrens' prints - 10 yards assorted", etc. YOu didn't know what you would get - or how big each piece would be - but it sure was fun to decide what you'd make once it arrived. I miss Sears!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sky photos. I so love myself a good sunset!
ReplyDeleteLove the popcorn clouds!
ReplyDeleteMoving is fun but a lot of work. It's hard to believe after such a long history that Sears is going out of business. We always got our appliances from them if they had a store in the town where we lived. The Sears washer and dryer we purchased in 2005 when we bought a condo in Bellingham has worked flawlessly since then. - Margy
ReplyDeleteNice to hear that things are in motion for the move! We heard about Sears too, sad.
