After ten days and two trips by the movers, we finally got moved. We kept the main floor livable, but the basement and garage are forests of boxes and surplus furniture. I'm threatening to start throwing out boxes without even opening them. And I'm thinking it will take us about two years to get settled in. Meanwhile, we're not moving much tonight. Funny as you get older, sitting down for a rest doesn't refresh your energy, it just gives the body a chance to sieze up!
See you tomorrow.
Yahoo finally you are there, now take your time and relax, throw out some boxes too.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, stopping means you have to lay down and breathe. I like your description of forests. I finally got them cleared six months later. My poor store room, workroom, furnace room will have to be reorganized one more time but at least I can shut the door on all of it. Do pace yourself and just keep your basic living area working for now. I am still looking for a couple of sweaters. They may have gone out in a box too.
ReplyDeleteI'm still looking for a box with pictures, two framed Molas from Panama and a print of the solar eclipse many years ago. They are probably still on the truck and travelling the world (even after twelve years). - Margy
ReplyDeleteGood news, and please do not throw out anything that is labelled " Mrs F.G.'s STUFF " or even worse... FABRIC. It will all happen soon enough, just one box at a time.
ReplyDeleteYeee-hah!
ReplyDeleteHaving just finished clearing my mother's house of 50 years of accumulated memories I have resolved to live a more streamlined and uncluttered existence. May not happen.
Time for a garage sale.
ReplyDeleteHello, good news! We packed up boxes years ago and never bothered opening. I assume it is just stuff we do not need or use everyday. Happy Sunday, enjoy you day and the new week ahead.
ReplyDeleteA close friend of mine has also made a move over the past couple of weeks. Between the two of you, I"m rethinking whether I want to downsize. How did we ever manage to accumulate so much STUFF?
ReplyDeleteTake your time getting it all sorted.
ReplyDeleteSounds like us back in February. We're still not fully settled. Just take your time and everything will eventually fall into place.
ReplyDeleteBoxes of things probable not missed until they would get thrown out. Better keep them all. LOL
ReplyDeleteLove the sunsets

You are so funny and do remind me of the many moves I have made over the years. Don't open any of those boxes until you are looking for something and then after a year...open and throw it all out.
ReplyDeleteWe have lived in the current house for 6 years and we still have not unpacked some boxes. Soon it is going to be done. Happy unpacking!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are all moved in. : ) When we move the first thing we move is the bed and get it all set up so we can just fall into it!! : )
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on getting it all moved! Now just take your time getting settled!
ReplyDeleteYay! Now that part is behind you and you can start getting back to your new normal. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe did that 9 years ago - and finally are all settled in - got a new shed this year and that completed what we wanted to do around the house. I had to laugh a little - just a little - about your statement about sitting down for a rest - so true - so true. Enjoy your new home.
ReplyDeleteOur last big move was 15 years ago October 31rst and I still remember all those things you mentioned. The thought of moving again is too mind boggling so I think we'll stay where we are. Sure know what you mean when you said, "Funny as you get older, sitting down for a rest doesn't refresh your energy, it just gives the body a chance to sieze up"!
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel after helping my parents downsize a few years ago ... well, the house was downsized, but they were hopeless for downsizing their belongings! You'll get there, and I hear you on the "rests" issue ;)
ReplyDeleteWendy
the curse of the box forest... I live in one.
ReplyDeleteI so agree with your last statement!
