Quilt Barn!

I was surprised and delighted last week to discover a big colourful quilt square newly mounted on the side of a barn.  It's down the road north to Meaford, straight north of here, a road I've driven dozens of times over the past few years.

Someone came up with a pretty neat design for this quilt pattern.

I was driving by as always, but just caught a glimpse of something different out of the corner of my eye.  I'm sure this hasn't been there for more than a few weeks.

It fits very nicely on the barn wall, and I'm sure it will get more than a few curious glances.  It's the first one that I've seen here in the valley.

I've thought of doing something like this myself on the side of our big garage.  Maybe I will.  And I've a good mind to stop n at the farm, say hello and thank them for brightening up the neighbourhood!

Been a long time since I've linked in to Tom's

  Barn Collective.

  1. A quilt block and the name and date of the farm on the barn, now this is very special. It's nice that they put a large 8' x 8' block up, so much easier to see. Thanks for stopping back again. I hope that your return again.

  2. Wonderful, at last we get to see a quilt here. Super design and colours. I'm sure Mrs F.G. can come up with a plan for you.

  7. It's very beautiful indeed. Why don't you do something like that and share it with me? Is it made of cloth? Will it weather well? :-)

  8. I have a couple of maps for following the quilt barn trail and keep meaning to do the tour...
perhaps a long drive in an air-conditioned car would have been a good idea these last few weeks!
I have a picture of this barn - but it would be from 5-6 years ago, and no quilt block.

    1. The barn quilt trails maps I have are for Oxford and Norfolk counties and there are a few around Brantford (though I've found many of those aren't actually on barns). barnquilttrails.ca has more that are even further afield.

  9. Well it certainly draws attention and looks quite a contrast to the old barn!

  13. I do like the contrast and sharpness you have give these photos. I like the grain of the wood on the barn and the pureness of color for the quilt.

  15. I just love it when I am driving down the road and I see where the owners of a barn have put up a painted quilt square. They add so much to the barns. And it is always fun to see what quilt pattern each one chooses. This is a nice one, and the barn is a beauty. genie
