A Few Flowers

A few flowers from our garden before summer starts to fade.  I've got lots more hikes and trail work to talk about, but I gotta mix it up a little.  And today wasn't so hot I couldn't get out and get some photos.

This is a Day Lily called 'Tigger'.  As you know, I like the bright ones, but we also had a dog names Tigger, and this flower is planted over her ashes.

The Day Lily flowers fascinate me.  I still find it hard to believe that each flower only comes out and blooms for a single day, such beauty.

This is Helenium, one of my favourite garden flowers.  I love the multi colours.

We hardly have any Coneflowers this year, after having lots.  The deer came along weeks ago and ate the tops off all the plants.

We have multiple versions of Brown-eyed Susans and False Sunflowers.  I can't keep them all straight, but they're all in the Rudbeckia family, which includes Coneflowers as well.  We have dozens and dozens of this variety, in several locations.

But I only spotted one lonely plant of this variety, coming up in the lawn, not in the garden at all.  Still a very colourful season in the garden here!

  4. Such beautiful colours. My dahlias have been especially big and bright this year. They must have liked the winter outdoors in their pots. - Margy
