At a lookout over the valley of the Fiddle River, looking up at Ashlar Ridge..
Ashlar Ridge extends a long distance up the east side of the valley.
I kept looking at the different mountains, and finding different rock formations, like this flat shelf forming the top of this peak.
This is as close as I got to a photo of the hot springs. you have to pay to enter it, and it's just a big (hot) swimming pool beside that building - but the setting is pretty spectacular!
Every curve was just as spectacular as the last one.
Nearing the highway this enormous cliff comes into view.
And then as you reach the main highway again, a different view of the cliff.

We've had a busy Thanksgiving Weekend here, with our daughter and two grandchildren visiting. Turkey dinner was enjoyed by all, as well as some stops on the art tour, and a visit to the apple orchard. Weather has been perfect all weekend, and today I took a page out of Al's book (at Travel with the Bayfield Bunch), and went for a drive to get some pictures of whatever fall colour we have this year. It's the least colourful fall colour I remember, but I found a few interesting spots which I'll share eventually. After that it was a garden day, got the last veggie bed tidied up, weeded, and more than half dug, in preparation for the fall garlic planting coming up shortly.

Huge rock faces, the second to last almost like a painting. Garden time, we are busy in spring planting of vege seeds and plants, more bulbs are flowering, and we have wind and grey skies. A lovely day out of the wind, under a tall tree, time to sit and ponder.
ReplyDeleteOh my lord, Jasper (and Banff) in my bucket list. When will I able to behold such beauty with my own eyes?
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
Beautiful rock formations and the golden aspens look like jewels!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good Thanksgiving with your daughter and grandchildren. The beauty of the Jasper area is so amazing. And with your area of expertise it would be doubly facinating.
ReplyDeleteMiette is a very scenic area. You really should have tried the hot pool. I was there one time and I was the only one in the pool.
ReplyDeleteThe golden aspens are breathtaking! I'm with you, I don't want to spend time in some hot springs, I'd rather be photographing the scenery.
ReplyDeleteThere are no mountains in my part of Ontario. So I always get excited when when I see one. You really captured the beauty of them in your photos.
ReplyDeleteWonderful setting for a swimming pool! Those mountains are spectacular.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo . Such pretty scenery . Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving so did we everything was perfect including the weather ! Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteWe go swimming in hot springs in Switzerland. So much nicer than an ordinary pool as far less chlorine, although one place we went the water was very sulphurous and stinky. We like the outdoor pools, especially when it snows. A fun combination of hot water and cold skies. And always wonderful mountain views.
ReplyDeletePretty pictures. They all look good enough to be postcards.
Sounds wonderful, that drive. And I keep noticing and appreciating all that beautiful blue sky, along with the mountains. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou have whetted my curiosity with these grand pictures. Do you know what kind of stone this is? I am rather curious about it's creation.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful
