I've been focusing on all the emerging spring flowers, but we've actually been having cold rainy days until now. Then it got colder, snowed briefly this morning, and now it's just cloudy. These pictures will give you a flavour of the weather this week - dull, grey and wet!
The usual view you've seen dozens of times, but doesn't that Sugar Maple straight out there look slightly green?.I took a close-up and the colour and pattern revealed was fascinating! This is a fine covering of lichen decorating the bark. Sometimes we just need to stop and look closer.
Whether it was raining or just misty, I couldn't see the homes across the golf course with my naked eye. They barely show up here. They're certainly not moving very fast to build homes along that new street they put in there three years ago.
This is a terrible photograph of our front yard birch tree. I was trying to capture the raindrops on the twigs, but the camera focused on the distant evergreens. Once I looked at it on here though I realized the green shoots of new leaves were more obvious than the raindrops!
Those greens, so many shades, and the shadows on the golf course make that vivid colour even more intense.
ReplyDeleteThe greening of Spring is always a special time of year.
ReplyDeleteYou'd need to manually focus the camera to capture the raindrops.
Be Safe and Enjoy the blooming flowers.
It's about time.
It has been really upsy downsy weather! Hang in there. Spring will soon figure itself out!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm quite familiar with that weather pattern. Hope it stays nice for you for awhile at least.
ReplyDeleteI love the frame of the last photo and the light!
ReplyDeleteYes indeed, spring is cold here again today and wet, while we had sunny warmth for a few days. I liked stopping to look at raindrops, and have the same trouble getting a focus on them!
ReplyDeleteIt was so great to have a sunny Sunday today. A cold west wind but at least it wasn't dull grey and raining.
ReplyDeleteThat last photograph is lovely.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Yes, regardless of our weather, there are definite leaf shoots.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping the weather improves. While the plants and trees need the moisture, we humans tend to find it gloomy.
ReplyDeleteIt reached a high of 16C today - a lovely day for time in the yard and at the park.
Everything is greening up beautifully but what you really need is a week or two of warm sunshine. Here's hoping...
ReplyDeleteSimilar weather to what we're "enjoying" here; the thermometer actually suggests that temperatures are around normal for the time of year, but everything else suggests that it's decidedly chilly!
ReplyDeleteI like those misty shots across the golf course.
ReplyDeleteApril has mostly been about rain and wind here. It is windy as heck again this morning, and we are standing by for more rain late this morning.
ReplyDeleteAh the problems of camera sensors, all too often focusing on the background. In a few years photographers may have microchips implanted so the camera knows what the actual subject is. : )
