I've just returned from a Friday afternoon ride and came around one corner to see a Wild Turkey calmly eating grubs out of someone's front lawn. I've certainly never see one here in town before, though they're common in rural areas here.
And it did not move as I crept closer either! I've always thought of them as wary birds apt to flee at the first sign of people.
I've never had much success or even tried with videos, but I thought this one of a bee visiting the Redbud came out rather well. Change it to full screen if you can to watch it, much more effective.
The turkeys around here and the rabbits too run at the first sight of me!!

Rabbits and turkeys are getting very used to people it seems. Cute little video. I wished it would have been longer.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a wild turkey and there was one living in the laneways around Grace st & Harbord a couple of years ago so I went searching for it but was never lucky enough to see it. Apparently people were feeding it all summer.

Turkeys often get habituated to people if they're not harassed too much, we've had them in the yard a number of times. Deer like some varieties of hosta, but seem not to touch others.

Great shots! My wild turkey pictures are always blurred because they are on the move.

ReplyDeleteYou did have a nature filled party. Lovely pictures. Seldom do i see rabbits up here, only a couple or three sightings in our 7 years here.

hehehehe, oooooh they have such the appetite, i battle with them here as well!! the video was wonderful, it sure is pollination season, and i adore the redbuds!!
ReplyDeleteI liked the video with the bee on a flower. Good job! I liked to rabbit as they are fun to see. I had one years ago but not able to have one here in town. I has to been in a cage someone and outdoors they do eat what they like and don't save it for the people in the house!
