Sunday the temperature hit 6°C and stayed there for several hours! When I woke up yesterday I was astonished to see how much snow was gone, especially off the planters. We're in a brief colder snap this week again, but the forecast for next week with several days hitting 8 or 9°C, is looking really good!
This was the view out back yesterday morning. There are several clues showing how much snow has gone, though when an unbroken sheet of white declines 4" or more you can't really see any difference. But look closely at the snow around the chairs, in front of the shed, and on the planter.I really thought someone must have been out there to knock most of the snow off the planters, but know this is just melting.
This is the planter just two weeks ago.
Wow, a huge heap of snow. A friend has a son in British Columbia, and hew built a 3 level home, often the snow is above the first level and they have a massive ramp for a safe entry rather than steps. Down here, we now have very dark mornings, at 6 a.m. I need the lights on, so different to just a few weeks ago.I always thought the snow on your planter was like the top of a very ornate coffin with those huge curved tops, so glad to see it melting away.
ReplyDeleteOur snow is almost all gone except in shady areas!
ReplyDeleteThat is similar to my title for tomorrow's post. I wrote it after Sunday but have had to revise it a bit. :)
ReplyDeleteHi: I have been reading all about you at the top of your blog. My daughter in law was born and raised in Meafod. Small world isn't it.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo's Our snow is gradually melting, can't wait for it all to be gone.
Patricia, My Piece of Earth.
Your snow does seem to be melting away quite quickly but it is after all March. One can hope the mild temperatures continue and the melting continues.
ReplyDeleteThat pile of snow across the street is impressive!
Let’s hope. It’s enough for us now too. No melting here though.
ReplyDeleteThat really is so much snow!
ReplyDeleteSo pleased it has started melting.
All the best Jan
I will be so happy to see your new garden! Mine, too!
ReplyDeleteThe melt was nice. We've gone from 43 cm snow cover to 35 cm!
Hooray for melting snow! Hopefully that means spring is right around the corner.
ReplyDeleteThe differences between the Muskoka chairs over a handful of days is a striking one.
ReplyDeleteOurs is going rapidly also -- once the sun is higher in the sky and the days are longer the snow doesn't last long.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed, milder temps ahead I see when checking the 14-day forecast. We seem to have a lot ice around too. These sunny days are so uplifting and will be even more so when we can add a little more warmth to the air.
ReplyDeleteIt is so great when we can see it going away. Your chairs are so neat to see and yest the snow is receding.
ReplyDeleteThe chairs look great against the snow. Here the snow has melted except in the mountains.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are right, I'm a believer!! I think that blizzard on Monday was the tip and the turning point. :D
ReplyDeleteThat close-up of the chairs (the first one) is frameable!!
ReplyDeletewow...you sure did get a lot of snow!! ours has all melted and we have a week of full sunshine this week. temperatures are suppose to be in the 50's, almost springlike!!
ReplyDeleteLooking good! I love the comparison pictures. Spring cannot be far behind. :-)
