A Stubborn Maple Leaf

For three days I have watched this stubborn little maple leaf get torn one way and another. Its stem is caught between the boards on the deck, but it just won't let go.  Given how cold it is outside, I'd be letting go as fast as I could, in the hope of being blown someplace warmer!

Doesn't it look stubborn?

Just to give you the context, there it is out on the deck beyond my wheelchair ramp.  And here it is, 'blowin' in the wind'.

A two doctor day today.  We have now established contact with 5 different medical specialists (respirologist, urologist, dermatologist, cardiologist and physiatrist) in the hopes of avoiding long trips to London.   All have been helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant.  They've also been interested in my outlandish medical history!

  1. Hope you're keeping a record of how long it stays stuck. It might be a trivial thing, but ordinary little things like that can be fascinating when looked at from the distance of several years.

No doubt your medical history would be of great interest to many medical professionals and might well help someone in the future. Although you'd probably never know about it, your case might be written up in a medical journal.

  2. Who knows how long it might stay in place?

  3. Where did the dentist and chiropodist fit into that schedule? A leaf, stuck in the snow, waiting for its place in the line of mulch, and putting goodness back into the soil.Great ramp, Hugh has 2 aluminium ones for his mobility scooter, we can fold them up and take in the back of the wagon, but not easy to use in a car park.As well, a legal requirement, 2 orange traffic cones set out so people in cars know he is either getting the scooter out or putting it in the back. And he has a flag on a pole too.

  4. Stubborn little thing, sort of like you. Won't give up and is hanging on. That's a lot of doctors to deal with, but necessary! :-)

  5. Better they are interested in your case than just going through the motions to see you.

  6. Closer to home is better. That leaf surrounded by the crystals of snow - could be a painting.

  9. I hope you eventually can settle down to just a dr's visit every now and then.

That maple leave is just like us...being blown this way and that, but life is tenacious and we hang on to it the best way we can.

  10. Interesting how the snow around the leaf has melted as if it is a living breathing soul. I like Rose's metaphor.
I'm glad you are able to save trips to London with your access to the medical specialists. Stay warm and continue to enjoy your leaf watching. See? Most of us would never notice it so we need you to share this kind of thing. :)

  12. Talking about leaves blowing in the wind--today as my friend was driving-I noticed a leaf blowing across the road and it looked like a crab crawling along--it had a longer body and the two sides where curved down and under a bit--and I tell you it really looked like a crab crawling--(and no --no wine was drank before seeing this!!!!!lol)

  14. I think if it would have been me I would have sent Mrs FG out into the snowy cold to set that little leaf feller free.
