We dropped down to the bay this afternoon to see the ice 'growing up the trees'. Splashing waves and freezing temperatures create constantly changing ice sculptures and icicles.
Georgian Bay was just rolling grey waves in the background.
I'm pleased to report that due to a widespread public outcry, the fences have come down around our parks and toboggan hills. One victory for common sense; one loss for the lawyers!
See the orange snowfence that is no longer there?
As for yesterday's quizz, Rose got it first - they were patterns on our windows in the carwash.
I can see a quiz coming up quite regularly maybe. Love those frozen icicles. I have seen them in the South Island, along fence lines and once by the sea near Dunedin. That is, I have seen photos!!!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see these trees/ice for myself. I bet you took a lot of photos! It would be hard to stop.
ReplyDeleteStunning photos. Thanks for taking the time to share with us.
ReplyDeleteAmazing shots!
ReplyDeleteVery nice ice -- there must be a significant amount of spray when the wind is onshore.
ReplyDeleteGood to see that the fences are gone and that common sense prevails for once.
Trees have to be very hardy to withstand such severe conditions.
ReplyDeleteThose icicles are really pretty, but it sure does look cold! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my! What beautiful pictures! I agree with DJan, I got chilly looking at them. :)
ReplyDeleteIcy cold and beautiful. Common sense thank goodness and the orange fences are gone.

Wow, so pretty! BTW, I take pictures in the car wash too. :-)
ReplyDeleteYour great icicle photos remind me of angel wings and dinosaur teeth. It's always nice how ice forms along our Great Lake's shorelines.
ReplyDeleteLove the icicle pictures by the lake , reminds me why we are here in the southwest.
ReplyDeletegreat pictures of the ice down by the bay
ReplyDeleteWoW!! stunning, i would love to see this in person!!!
ReplyDeleteNot a sight I have ever seen. Icicles, yes. Wave cicles, no.
ReplyDeleteWow what beautiful icy pictures!! Sure does look cold!
ReplyDeleteI think, if we lived near the Bay, we'd be visiting as well. Our lakes are frozen, sort of!
ReplyDeleteThat is icy with the icicles on the branches
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteThat is icy!
All the best Jan
Wow - that is amazing - and glad the fences are gone.
ReplyDeletebrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
ReplyDeleteThere is a short poem by Robert Frost called “Fire and Ice.” I forget how it goes but I think it has to do with the end of the world. We are a long way from that I hope, but it sure looks like you have the ice part captured in these pictures! Now I will have to go and look at the poem!
