Dwarf Iris in Bloom

There's one flower I look for every spring, and for a decade it's been the bright royal blue Dwarf Iris.  The Daffodils will come, and we'll really enjoy them, but the tiny Dwarf Iris marks spring for me.

These are growing right outside our front door, in a tiny strip of garden between the sidewalk and the front porch.  Just got out there and took these pictures this minute!

  2. These are gorgeous. That must be a nice sunny spot for them. I will have to get out & about in the neighbourhood to see if I can spot any of them.

  4. Beautiful deep colours, and to capture them right now, surely the spring has arrived at your home.

  7. Sweet little flowers. It's funny how certain tiny things can have such resonance in our lives.

  8. The name iris reticulata springs to mind, but I am probably wrong because I haven’t been into flowers very much for quite a long time. I mean, we have a garden still, but the same plants come up every year, and we fill in with pots of annuals these days.

  10. Great photos! I always look for them up on the Bruce Peninsula when I am there in spring, but it has been awhile. So nice to see that you have them at your door!
