The Changeable Season

Late November through December is the changeable season here, weather-wise.  I can remember years when it snowed heavily in early November and stayed until March, and other years when we had a green Christmas.  This year seems more typical, as the temperature keeps going up and down from snow to rain and back again.  These shots are all from the last three weeks.

Nov. 14th and it was still fall.

Five days later and winter has arrived.

After the tree trimmers were here - can you spot the difference?

Only three days later - but a grey sky.

Another sunny sky on Dec. 1st.

Then we had two days of rain and warmth.

Now winter is mostly back.

Today 15 minutes ago, wet snow after flurries last night.

  1. Lots of variations on a theme. I am glad you are taking so many shots from the same place and comparing them.

  2. We have the same kind of weather. You never know what the day will bring. :)

  3. Most of our snow had disappeared, my driveway and sidewalks were clear. That ended this morning, when we received about 3-4 inches of snow over a few hours. The driveway and sidewalk are primarily clear but only because I cleared them. :)

Enjoy your view, it is lovely, snow or no.

  6. Great idea taking pictures of the same spot over the past weeks. We're getting more snow too but probably more rain later in the week.

  7. Interesting to see the daily changes from your window. We've had snow in the north of the country but nothing down here yet. Snow is increasingly rare here in recent years, but our weather is always changeable with rarely more than three days of the same conditions.

  8. Our temperatures are fluctuating too and snow to rain and back is the pattern here as well. Your backyard looks so picturesque in any weather however.

  9. Good idea for an interesting series.
A snow day here, but it will get warmer and rain later, so it all may go.

  11. Typical Ontario, Canada, can't quite decide which season to represent. I'm glad it isn't steady snow for you though, you'd have been snowed in long ago! Take care.

  12. the weather sure isn't what it was 50 years ago and it's going to get even more weird. I think I'm glad I'm old, the future doesn't look good.
