We woke to a sudden dramatic rise in temperature, and almost all our snow cover had melted in just 12 hours. Then as we drove to Owen Sound a cold front went through. The temperature rose to 14°C by noon and now at 3 o'clock it's back down to 6°. Meantime there has been a wind warning all day.
Not much snow left!Thunderous rain with ferocious cross-winds for about 10 minutes as the cold front went through, this time a very concentrated cold front.
The rain was blowing totally sideways across my side window,
Fields were flooded everywhere. This almost looks like a stream and lake, but it's just a flooded pasture.
I wonder how much of this is climate change?
We've still got some snow on the ground, and had similar temperature rises.
ReplyDeleteI get very nervous when driving in such a downpour. The wind would have made it all the more scary. Luckily it didn't last too long.
ReplyDeleteThe weather is totally wacky these days. We just had torrents of hail and snow, then glorious sunshine and no clouds, and then once again torrents of hail and snow. And I am just glad we aren't in a tornado area. I feel bad for all those who do.
ReplyDeleteWe have had crazy weather too. One day it is 20 degrees, the next day 50 and this morning when I walked it was 56 degrees!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder as well.
ReplyDeleteYes, it has indeed been a bizarre weather day. Big, big winds here today. Global warming? Yes, but what's causing Global Warming? Weather patterns are worsening around the world and are probably going to get much worse. Why? Our planet Earth is slowly twisting on it's axis.
ReplyDeleteThe impacts of climate change on the weather are certainly resulting in more significant and dangerous weather events. The heavy rains and floods in BC and the tornado in the States are simply two examples. A friend who lived in the Artic for several years has told me that the changes are more evident there, as the ice melt is occurring more quickly, such that polar bears are actually drowning when they go out to hunt seals.
ReplyDeleteWhile we all appreciate the warmer temperatures of winter, I suspect it's a harbinger of what's to come.
We have the opposite. Snow disappeared earlier in the week and came back again. I prefer they way it looks in your area.

ReplyDeleteOddly enough, we have more snow than you. It is ferociously windy now after rain — some freezing some not.
ReplyDeleteWhen the fronts go through weather can be very nasty
ReplyDeleteMy sister texted me from Hanover this morning and we were sharing the same temperature of 12C. For you guys, it was 10, for us 8 am. Interesting. Those changes come so quickly in your neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteWild weather indeed!
ReplyDeleteYou probably don't have to wonder if the wild weather is related to climate change, all the predictions are that the weather will become more extreme and changeable -- here we are.
ReplyDeleteWe had gusty wind here in Oregon early Sat a.m. It finally calmed down about 10:30 a.m. When we drove to town to watch a movie, there was rain and a big of fog in area due to driving. Cold outdoors. Not raining too much once we got there. Sunday was a bit warmer and a little breeze. Weather was worse in Kentucky where a town was mostly destroyed by a tornado Friday night. Weather has been whacky this year. Stay warm and safe.
ReplyDeletewe have all been having very unpredictable and wild weather. it was 64 degrees here today, we tied a record!!
