I've picked up a few more photos from around the two neighbourhood streets I ride, from flowers to ornaments to the construction on the Nelson Street hill. It's a beautiful sunny day here, the first in awhile, and I've just got back from a trip downtown, with stops at the harbour, library and pharmacy.
The friendly lady around the corner has replaced her old display on a rickety stepladder with these on an old ironing board.Just down the street from her is this beautiful deep purple Clematis beside a front door.
When the wind blows the woodsman moves back and forth cutting the log. Quite clever!
And right here on our own street they've started building the 3rd last house. After this only two vacant lots are left. As usual they're building the roof first, sitting on the foundation. They'll lift it off to build the walls and then put it back on top.
That first lady sure makes it fun for passersby.
ReplyDeleteThat lady with the fence certainly likes to keep busy!
ReplyDeleteThe clematis particularly draws my eye.
ReplyDeleteLove that fence - so much fun to look at!!
ReplyDeleteI love those whirlygigs, here there is a TV ad, and the little man turns faster and faster as the gale blows.Purple clematis, stunning. And building the roof first, saves a huge amount of tall ladder work.
ReplyDeleteA friend of ours, who's a retired engineer, makes whirlygigs -- some are rather elaborate, but really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat fence defines bric-a-brac in a whole new way!
ReplyDeleteI like the old wooden fence and all it's groovy stuff.
ReplyDeleteThe fence is quite the sight. I love the use of vertical space but I'm not quite as enthusiastic about the mass of small containers...that would take a lot of watering to keep everything going.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to wander over to a construction site here and see how they're building. I can't wrap my head around building the roof before the walls. Doesn't it get in the way?
What an interesting neighborhood! I am always amazed to hear people decide to build the roof first. I think you taught me about this a few years back. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe way they build the houses is so fascinating to me. I have never seen it done like that anywhere else in the world.
ReplyDeleteLove the pot people. Some people are so creative!
ReplyDeleteI love people with quirky styles!
