The Christmas Storm that Wasn't

Merry Christmas to all this bright snowy day!  We're sitting here watching the snow fall, the presents are opened and coffee's been enjoyed.  I'm now wide awake!  We both enjoyed our gifts, three new sweaters for me and a blank cheque for buying plants for the garden next summer.  A gift postponed, but it will allow Christmas to continue all next season.

We stopped by the manger scene and I tried to get pictures, but the different lights were flashing on and off so quickly all I got were the partial blue a d red scenes.  There are more figures in the middle!

I did capture the three wisemen, but it took me about ten tries to get their camel the lights were flashing on and off so fast.

At that point we headed out going by this view of the downtown street in Owen Sound.  The story of that hot chocolate I mentioned now unfolded.  I had taken the lid off earlier (when we were parked) and I guess I hadn't put it back on quite properly.  I took a few drinks once we got on some smooth pavement, and felt a few dribbles in the dark.  Frustrating for an old man, but I waited until we got home to worry about it.  Turns out it wasn't just a few drips. but a big spill.  I had poured the chocolate down my sweater, and when that came off there was a large chocolate stain on the white undershirt.  I did get n a little bit of trouble for that one!

As for the storm, yesterday at noon the grass was totally green, and the forecast was for a deluge of rain changing to freezing rain turning to snow overnight leaving travel difficult.  It did spit for a bit, but no deluge.  The temperature did drop, precipitately, from 8°C to -1, but I never did see any ice at all.
a snow suall warning is still in place and it's still snowing lightly, but no squalls yet.  We shall see if this storm ever does develop!

Merry Christmas!

  3. Merry Christmas to you and Mrs F.G. That blank check (that's how we spell it down here) sounds pretty good, hope the nurseries have enough plants.
