Around the Neighbourhood

The other day, before our most recent and hopefully final cold snap, it was warm enough to get outside, and it was sunny.  I mostly sat in front of the garage soaking up the sun, but I did ride up and down the street a bit a few times.

One neighbour has put up this large sign in their window.

Our closest neighbours have this ornamental weeping Pussy Willow, just full of blossoms - just a bit past the 'pussywillow' stage, but pretty nevertheless.

Around the corner construction continues.  That day they were pouring another foundation.  There are two homes under construction, one nearly ready for occupancy and I think four lots left..

Overhead fluffy clouds were blowing over, but every time the sun disappeared it suddenly got cool again.  Sunshine makes such a difference at this time of year.

Our son and daughter-in-law dropped in for a visit to deliver a couple of things, remove a couple, and help with changing a lightbulb (while keeping our social distance).  It's amazing the simple tasks you need help with from a more agile person when you're paralyzed!

And this is Zombie, a Great Dane puppy!  Our D-i-L has always wanted a Great Dane, and this is the time.  She is a Veterinary Technician and loves all sorts of animals.  I'm not sure if I'll be comfortable looking eye-to-eye with a Great Dane as tall as I am!

  1. He will be a magnificent dog, and a massive size!! Wait and see how he grows, maybe. Love the window message, and to be out even for a short time is so refreshing.

  4. Hopefully when you come Eye to Eye with Zombie he'll be a good listener and not try to take over the conversation.
Be Safe and Enjoy the warmer temperatures.

    It's about time.

  5. That puppy looks like a full sized dog already. I look forward to seeing him grow up. And there are still a few pussy willows in there. :-)

  6. They are a wonderful breed. My grandsons father has always had Danes. They have been wonderful with the children.

  7. I love the pussy willows...so agree about what a big difference the sun can make at this time of year. Oh, Great Danes are lovely dogs! I have never met one that wasn't a big old friendly dog. One time one we were stopped at a corner out in the country, and here came one from down the road a ways. And it was all I could do to keep it from getting in the car with us!

  8. You were in a hotbed of activity. Here in Pennsylvania all construction, except for emergency repairs, is supposed to have stopped but we still see some non-emergency construction going on. My understanding is that Danes were originally bred as war dogs; if so, their personalities certainly have been changed over the years.

  11. Must admit I have never had the pleasure of meeting a Great Dane. Spring sunshine is a wondrous thing alright and just think how nice it will be one of these days when the outside air actually warms up. It IS going to get warmer, right??

  12. We have friends who have only ever owned great Danes. Their current one is deaf and I am intimidated by her only because of her size. She is still young yet becoming a very calm dog.
Spring is really and truly on the brink!!

  13. Nice to see evidence of spring in some places, except not as much here in NH (yet). I am an occasional return blog visitor who has been here on previous times and sometimes without commenting. The neighbor's sign was most appriate and true. Zombie looks like a peaceful, if large, puppy. Nice to have family come to help with necessary shores.

  14. Love the window. I see lot online back home and read they do the nightly cheer and banging pots for health workers. That's some puppy! Bet it eats like a horse, pun intended. - Margy
