It's pumpkin season in rural Ontario. A few farmers plant a big pumpkin patch, and sell pumpkins for Hallowe'en at the roadside. Sometimes quite a big operation; sometimes just a small patch. We stopped at one of the bigger farms on the way home; here are a selection of pictures.
Great photos, FG.

ReplyDeleteThe displays of gourds are always the most colorful aspect of the farmstand displays during pumpkin season -- what a display of colors, shapes and sizes.
ReplyDeleteOur local Pumpkin Patch opens on the 29th - hosts of primary classes will be following the leaders through the pumpkins and all the imaginative displays, decorated buildings - school house, general store, corn maze, petting animals, playing with the various stations set up, getting their pictures taken, making memories. I traipsed through with my grandson from age 4 and last year (at 14) he took ME to the pumpkin patch as a BIG favor, bless him.

It is a good year for pumpkins! It distresses me to see all that good food go to waste after Halloween though.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good night now that you are home in your familiar nest.
Karen. The Jack-O-Lantern pumpkins are not for eating. Sugar pumpkins are used for pies, etc.
